Keeping Committed to Practice
Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for keeping committed to regular practice? I preach about it often to my students, and always feel inspired by their progress but can never get as far as even getting one session of practice in per week…
START HERE: Welcome to the community!
Welcome to The Independent Pianist Circle. We're thrilled to have you! The goal of this space is to help you stop practising alone and build connections with other learning pianists like you. And this helps you to improve your playing! Your First Task: Introduce Yourself It is completely understandable to feel a bit of resistance when joining a community of musicians. Try to ignore that voice. We're all in the same boat here, and we just want to get to know you! Drop a comment on this post to introduce yourself (you can use the template below if you want). Also, attach a photo of your current piano setup! Hi! My name's __________ and I'm based in __________. I'm currently working on __________, but outside of the piano, I love to __________. Welcome to the Circle! 🎹 P.S. Craving some music? If you're on the website, go to the search bar at the top and type "Let there be cat". Thank me later :)
🔒 SOLD OUT: The Fluency Fast-Track is Officially Closed
Well, that didn't take long! Less than 12 hours after opening the doors, the 9-Week Fluency Fast-Track is officially 100% sold out. I knew this programme was going to be popular, but the spots vanished much faster than I anticipated. A massive congratulations to the students who jumped on the opportunity and locked in their places. You already have access to the initial materials, and I cannot wait to kick off our sprint together this Monday. For everyone else: As I mentioned this morning, dedicating my time and bandwidth to this new cohort means my teaching diary is now effectively locked for the rest of the term. Ad hoc bookings are officially off the table. If you missed out on a spot today but want to completely overhaul your playing before the end of the year, I will most likely be running the next cohort in the summer. Just drop me a DM, and I will add you to the VIP Summer Waitlist. You will get first refusal on the new spots before I announce them publicly. Have an amazing weekend, keep the daily practice going, and let's get to work!
🚀 Enrolment Open: The 9-Week Fluency Fast-Track (Starts Monday)
As we gear up for the next term, I am shifting exactly how I teach. The goal is simple: to get you playing fluently, securely, and with total confidence by July. To get you there, I am launching the 9-Week Fluency Fast-Track. It is a highly structured sprint designed to completely overhaul your progress. Because of the way the daily frameworks are built, you will not have to wait until week nine to see results—you will start noticing undeniable shifts in your coordination and confidence within the first fortnight. The entire system is designed specifically for busy adults and students. It requires only 20 minutes of engagement per day (and yes, that includes your practice time). You can absolutely practise for longer if you wish, but 20 minutes of hyper-focused, tracked work is the average daily baseline required to guarantee the results. Here is a breakdown of what is included during the 9 weeks: - 7x 45-minute 1-on-1 lessons: Focused sessions to deliver personal feedback. - Priority Support: Direct messaging to instantly eliminate your practice roadblocks. No waiting until the next lesson if you get stuck on a Tuesday. - Upgraded Notes Page: A personalised practice plan (updated weekly), all lesson recordings, and standard per-piece feedback. - The Practice Tracker: A system to gamify your daily habit and ensure visible, measurable progress. - The Virtual Concert: A supportive, low-stakes online recital at the end of the programme to synthesise your progress and manufacture a definitive end goal. - Plus: Mindset guides, music theory databases, memorisation frameworks, and guides to playing without looking at your hands. The "Impossible to Fail" Guarantee: I am so confident in this system that I am backing it with a full safety net. If you do not absolutely love the programme and the results you achieve, I will give you a full refund. All I ask is that you show up and do the work: complete the classroom pages, engage with the community, and attend every 1-on-1 session. If you do that and still aren't happy, you get your money back in full, no questions asked.
My apologies!
Hi everyone! Despite being on holiday right now, I went back to Oxford over the past few days to get some coursework done. It was a pretty intense few days, so I'm quite behind on my admin! My apologies if this has affected you in any way. Just so you're aware, my exams will probably start around mid-May and will hopefully finish by early June. There may be one or two weeks without lessons for those of you who are having them. Honestly, I'm quite looking forward to the exams, or more specifically, the period after their completion! Just wanted to keep everyone updated. Thanks for your patience!
