Are you learning AI? You better.
I am SO OLD, that I am the last of the guys trained by actual Madmen. When I started in advertising, the Macintosh computer was a brand new thing... • We used computers mostly as a word processor. • I had to learn how to spec type with a pica ruler. • You got typesetting back from an outside company and put together ads, brochures and catalogs with a blue pencil, rubber cement (or a waxer), an x-acto knife and a T-square. • There was no Internet (that became a thing for me in 1996). • AOL and Netscape were the unstoppable forces of the "interwebs" • I was very adept at Quark Xpress long before I found out about Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop Why tell you this? Because the ad world is often at the cutting edge of using new tech to get sh*t done. I did and still do. I've done pretty well. I can still do better. SO KNOW THIS... AI is here.... it's not political. It's not a threat. It's not the panacea. IT JUST IS... and will only be getting more dominant in how we all interact — as consumers, as creatives and as humans. And now, without any fanfare at all, Facebook made a new acquisition a few days ago by buying a 49% stake in an AI Company (Scale) headed by a 28-year old kid named Alexandr Wang. You may want to sign up for Coursiv to get you further on your way. Don't worry, even though the first boats sailed years ago — RIGHT NOW you are still in the 1% early adopter phase. In a month, you can be AI dangerous. In two, you'll be the smartest person in the room. I can't say that I know specifically how you will use it... just that you will — and the key to your success will be SPEED. The CREATIVE WORLD is ruled by ideas. AI is simply the ability to produce more ideas in less time to find, to test, to fail, to ultimately succeed — and you will.

@Mike Farley AI just amplifies what you know. Therefore, from the arrival of AI, if you think that your job is done. It's not. It's just that you have become competent in areas where you are a director. Value of knowledge is declining but the value of focused-work and deep skills is increasing.
