Introducing the 8-Week Tai Chi Training Cycle (Please Watch the Video)
We’re excited to share that our Qi & Flow (Tai Chi) live classes are evolving into a new structured format designed to help you build real Tai Chi skill. This new 8-week Qi & Flow training cycle gives us a clearer path to develop both: - Strong Tai Chi foundational skills - A deeper understanding of the Beijing 24 Form 🌱 Why This New Format? This structure allows you to: - Build skills progressively and intentionally - Connect Tai Chi fundamentals directly to form practice - Revisit the same material each cycle—going deeper every time - Stay organized without losing the natural, flowing quality of Tai Chi - Supports both beginners and experienced students Think of it like stepping into a moving river—you can join anytime, and each pass brings more depth. 🔄 How These Classes Will Be Structured Each week follows a consistent and purposeful flow: 🗓️ Tuesday — Foundations - Yin–Yang Qigong - Tai Chi Stances - Tai Chi Walking 🗓️ Thursday — Internal Development - Silk Reeling: Covering movements from all 24 forms - Ocean Stepping: Develop coordination, flow, and internal connection 🗓️ Sunday — Form Practice - Beijing 24 Form: Apply everything into real form training ❓Can you join at any time, in any week? 👉 Yes. You can jump in whenever you’re ready! - Check which week we’re currently on and jump right in - Use past recordings to catch up at your own pace - Each cycle repeats, so you’ll continue building deeper understanding over time We’ll also be introducing a future 8-Week cycle for the second half of the Beijing 24, so you can eventually learn the full form. We’re really excited about this shift. It’s a very intentional way to train, while still keeping the practice natural, flowing, and alive. Looking forward to seeing your growth through this cycle. Please let us know if you have any questions🌱

Today’s live session class was very enjoyable! It marks the completion of my five weeks at Rooted Alchemy, and I feel very fortunate to have found this academy! Sonny you have found your call! Thanks for your dedication to providing us such great quality with your presentations, with your coaching, the rich detailed explanations with all you are sharing, as well as having formed the quality of supporting staff, that package all you teach in such a flawless manner, to which we can easily access in live form and at will! I see myself sticking with your academy, and hope the prices of our classes or memberships remain reasonable as your academy grows.
Classroom portal
A big thanks to all involved for the new layout and organization of our classroom portal. Makes it all so much easier to identify exactly what each is seeking, and go after the particulars of the training each of us like to focus on.
Qi & Flow 8 Week Training Cycle
🌿 Welcome Hey everyone, this is the community post for the 8-week Tai Chi training cycle. Check in here to see what week we’re on and what is up next. Ask any questions and comment on how things are going. I will be filling this space with information about the Beijing 24 and supporting materials over time. 🌊 We’ll keep this thread active and alive throughout the entire eight weeks, so take your time getting acquainted with the information and feel free to participate as much or as little as you would like. Following the flow and methods of the Tai Ji Tree, our 8 week training cycle introduces the universal concepts of tai chi Chuan and classical training methods drawn from across the Tai Chi landscape. Using the intentionally designed sequence of the Beijing 24 form as our starting point, students will learn to build their tai chi from the ground up, creating a centered and rooted practice that will give them the tools needed for long-term growth and study. . 🔴 Weekly Schedule 一 (Yi) — Week 1 — March 10–16 二 (Er) — Week 2 — March 17–23 三 (San) — Week 3 — March 24–30 四 (Si) — Week 4 — March 31–April 6 五 (Wu) — Week 5 — April 7–13 六 (Liu) — Week 6 — April 14–20 七 (Qi) — Week 7 — April 21–27 八 (Ba) — Week 8 — April 28–May 4 All sessions are recorded and archived and can be reviewed at anytime. So no matter when you start you can see where we are at in the training cycle and use the previous recordings to catch up or just jump right in! The cycle will begin anew with Week 0 May 5th-11th as well as the opening of a special 8 week class for sections 3 & 4 and the closing section to finish the form! 🧭 Class Structure (Each Week) 🗓️ Tuesday — Foundations 🏔️ Yin–Yang Qigong Tai Chi Stances Tai Chi Walking 🗓️ Thursday — Internal Work 🔵 Silk Reeling Ocean Stepping 🗓️ Sunday — Form Practice 🔴 Beijing 24 🌊 Community & Check-Ins Use this thread to: 🌱 Ask questions 🌿 Share how your practice is going 🌳 Check in with the current week 🍃 Connect with others in the training cycle

Spot on Sonny! This is awesome! I liked the tree analogy you used today on our Zoom Tai Chi class, you brought concrete vision to our posture as we move through the steps in our form. I very much enjoy the details you provide with your guidance of each move, and the historical background to the origins of the art, and your teachers’ and your wisdom that you share with us.
Xin Qi Shen Newsletter | Beginner's Mind
For many years, decades actually, one of my teacher's Andy Dale produced an in house newsletter. I have archived almost all of the material and with his permission will be sharing articles and pieces from the vast collection. I thought it fitting to start with a piece on "Beginner's Mind" that I can remember reading way back when I first began training.

As I partook on the Thursday’s live event via zoom, and was listening to your instructions and several historical references of terms you were sharing, I was thinking to myself how beneficial it would be to have resources to read on the art, it’s history and figureheads that left such rich legacy for us all to follow. This is so very thoughtful and welcoming! Thank you Sonny!
Tai Chi Beijing 24…
Has anyone come across to instruction beyond the 3rd movement of Tai Chi Beijing 24? Sonny has provided an outstanding set of instructions for 1. Qi Shi, transition into the Crescent Moon, 2. Parting the Wild Horse’s Mane, 3. White Crane Spreads its Wings. The detail breakdown of each of those movements are so well done, and looking to the continued set movements. Have instructional videos been produced for the next three or more movements?

Hi Jayda, thank you for your reply and for sharing Sonny’s perspective and plans for our training. It all makes good sense. I’m looking forward to Section 2. In the meantime, I’ll continue working on mastering the first three movements—focusing on body mechanics and developing a better feel for the energy flow as the body shifts and transitions from empty to full, forward to backward, left to right, and top to bottom. This is the start of my third week, and the training has already made me more aware of my body, the energy in and around it, and the importance of feeling grounded in the space I occupy.
