Dogs and People
Ever walk past a dog and instantly think, “That one looks dangerous”? Maybe it’s big. Maybe it’s scarred. Maybe it’s barking because life taught it that’s how you protect yourself. But then you get close… and realize it just wants someone to sit, stay, and trust. A gentle soul wrapped in a body the world misjudged. People are the same. We judge the size, the tattoos, the attitude, the silence, the history without ever giving them a chance to show who they truly are. Some aren’t angry… they’re scared. Some aren’t cold… they’re protecting their heart. Some aren’t dangerous… they’ve just been hurt before. Imagine what could happen if we led with curiosity instead of fear. So before you cross the street, look away, or write someone off pause. They might just be the loyal, loving soul you’ve been searching for. What’s a time you misjudged someone and were glad you were wrong? Share it. Someone needs that reminder today.

Never judge a book by it's cover! I have to constantly remind myself to keep an open mind and that we all have our own journeys and like fingerprints no two are ever the same.
Helping others / helping you
Last night reminded me why giving back matters: not just for others, but for our own hearts. Photographing the Ronald McDonald House fundraiser put me right in the middle of a room full of people choosing compassion. And there’s something about witnessing that kind of kindness that shifts your whole mood. You can’t help but feel lifted. I saw the hugs, the tears, the strength of families fighting for their kids… and it reminded me that when we help others, even in small ways, we heal a little too. To everyone who showed up or gave what they could thank you. You didn’t just support families… you added a bit of light back into your own life. Helping others is one of the fastest ways to feel whole again. ❤️ Jump in on the thought I’d love to hear from you.

I sometimes volunteer my time on a Sunday at the local Community Kitchen, it provides an opportunity to give back and by giving I also receive in works in mysterious ways!
Take time to reset your soul.
It’s wild how we push ourselves until we’re running on fumes… then wonder why everything feels heavy. We talk about self-care like it’s some big, complicated thing, but honestly? It’s the small resets that save us. For me, it’s a good beard trim. There’s something about sitting in that chair, letting someone else take over for fifteen minutes, watching the loose ends fall away. It’s like my mind gets cleaned up right along with it. For you it might be a walk, a quiet coffee, a long drive, or shutting the world out for a bit. Whatever it is — do more of it. Not because you’re weak, not because you’re broken, but because you deserve to breathe without the weight on your shoulders. What’s one thing that helps you reset your soul? Drop it below, you might help someone find their own way back to calm.
Take time to reset your soul.

First Responders & Mental Health
Most people will go their entire lives and only face a handful of traumatic events, maybe a serious car accident, maybe a medical emergency in the family, maybe one moment that shakes their world. First responders see that before lunch. I’m not saying that to complain. I’m saying it because the average taxpayer deserves to know the reality behind the uniform. Firefighters, paramedics, police and dispatchers walk into situations every single day that most people would sprint away from. They see the worst moments of someone’s life… again and again and again. And no matter how tough you are, that does something to you. You don’t just “shake it off.” You stack it. Year after year. Call after call. And yet, most first responders will never say a word. Not because they’re heroes but because they don’t want to burden anyone, complain, or sound ungrateful for the job they once loved. But here’s the truth: Mental health in emergency services isn’t a weakness issue. It’s a volume issue. It’s about exposure. It’s about repetition. It’s about carrying stories you can’t unsee. So if you take anything from this, let it be this: Next time you see a first responder understand that behind that uniform is a human being doing their best with the weight they carry and sometimes the strongest thing they ever do is simply show up again tomorrow. This isn’t a complaint. This is awareness. This is respect for the men and women who keep showing up even when the job takes pieces of them. If you’re a first responder and this hits home… Drop a comment. You’re not alone.

In Australia Security Officers are first on scene which can also take its toll with mental health. I know many officers including myself who suffer from PTSD.
