Recruiting Visit
As a College Cross Country coach I meet prospects and recruits on campus for visits. Seemed like a good day for some Tweed. Paired with LL Bean Oxford, Vintage Polo Ralph Lauren tie, chinos and Vintage USA made Dexter loafers and Bulova on the wrist.

As I stepped into 2026 one of my motivations for dressing better was how I present myself to the world. This was important for me personally but I want it to be a lesson for my kids. In the culture of America today we live in a world where people really don't care what they look like, or use a poor excuse if I want to "feel" comfortable. Well I feel comfortable in a properly fit suit and look good, so that just a poor excuse. But what's sad is that most people don't care about the non verbal statements of how they present themselves. No more pride in how they look or what they say to the world. I've been focusing on proportions and silhouette and the rule of thirds in my dressing. I've also kept an eye out for those classic 90s chunky corduroy pants. Well today was my lucky day. I came across four pairs in brown, charcoal, blue and beige with the relaxed straight leg double pleated. Not to mention a great polo quarter zip and 100% merino wool birdseye sweater. I've also used the RL 3 piece layer system and revealing oxford shirt cuffs with sweaters like a suit coat. I love how these pants feel sitting above the hips and on the waist making proportions easy. What do we think?

Writing Instrument Recommendations
Got a question Gentleman. I will be taking a position soon where I will be doing more writing, teaching, speaking etc in public. Like a watch, ring and other accessories, stationary related items have always been something important to me. So I want to invest a little in a decent pen. In the past I have bought vintage Parker fountain pens and others. But find them to be impractical at times. So wondering if anyone else has recommendations for a statement piece writing instrument in the 1-150 ballpark with some solid engineering and heft but looks great also.

@Scott Critchfield Hey Scott thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out. I believe I may have Monteverde fountain pen cartridge style floating around here somewhere. They make a nice pen. I do think roller ball is where I'm at as well right now.
Top Gun of the North!
As many of us know men's style and fashion has adopted many of its ideas from military garments. So today I decided why not use some authentic pieces in my outfit. Today I'm rocking an original heavy knit WW II issued Gob crew style Naval sweater with an original WW II G-1 Flight Jacket, tan chinos, Red Wing Navy Chukka boot, original Vietnam issued Bulova canteen watch on the wrist, WW II officers USMC Sterling ring and grandmas simple silver pinky ring and a Papa Nui Hellcat USMC camo cap.

Guilty pleasures
Been having this urge to pick up some inexpensive 70-80s Tank dress watches to go with some outfits. So snatched these 5 dollar watches this morning. But found a little gem in this Elgin Swiss Tank. Nice heft to this watch. So now we are onto some cleaning and polishing and taking down to my jeweler for bracelet fit and new batteries and will be ready to rock.

My Jeweler was closed today, so had to take matters into my hands. Ten dollar tool kit, polishing cloth and some of my own tools. Bracelets cleaned, batteries replaced, links taken out to fit my wrist and ready for wear! Liberating when you can do your own work and take care of your menswear accessories.
