Police academy
Hey guys I know there’s a good amount of law enforcement officers here and I wanted some input. I’m in the final stages of hiring for PD and may have an academy coming up. Wanted opinions on running Warfighter while going through daily academy PT. It’s definitely not the most intense and I do not want to go six months with random exercising daily as my only training, but at the same time don’t know if it may be too much. I’m gonna assume I’ll have to just adjust the program depending on what I’m doing that day.

I went through our academy in 2005 so of course this kind of outside programming in the palm of your hand didn’t exist. My academy was very running focused for PT so I would go and lift at night. But I’d maybe feel things out for the first week or so. I had no kids/wife/ outside stressors to speak of at the time so I basically could just do the academy, study for tests, and bang weights on repeat for about 7 months. I was also 21 years old so “2 a days” for me was zero factor from a recovery standpoint….so your personal life and if you have a family can absolutely factor in. I’d say feel things out for a bit and don’t stress about being “deconditioned” if you temporarily gotta pause outside training. The academy is your sole focus for the foreseeable future, stay healthy and injury free, dry fire at night, stay out of the bars, study, and take the mentality you have of being worried if the PT will be “enough” with you for when you hit the streets. If you have to pause, Jump back in to MASS when you hit FTO and beyond and you’ll be MILES ahead of most of your fellow cops. Take that from a 41 year old “old guy”
Trading question
Any suggestions on working up to jumping/ double leg bounds that I’m seeing in the program. I know that jumping should be natural but I’m just dealing with some old injuries and trying to get back into it.

Hey team - added a new category to our Skool group. With so many of our members either prepping for a tactical profession, or currently serving in one, this is your space to get your questions answered and connect with people who have been where you want to go. And if you're that seasoned vet...your space to help mentor the next generation.

Brian, as someone who’s 19 years in to a roughly 30 year career in a big city law enforcement agency, I appreciate you creating this group. I’ll keep checking back for updates! Thank you
