Day 4
Reflect: 1. Where do I tend to hold tension in my body? 2. How did it feel to actively release tension today? Here's something I've learnt about connecting to the body, it's called 'Somatic Healing'. Somatic simply means “of the body.” In healing and self-development, somatic practices are about paying attention to what’s happening inside your body; sensations, tension, breath, posture, impulses and letting that information guide you. It’s the opposite of staying stuck in your head, analysing everything, or bypassing how you feel. Culturally, we’re taught to disconnect from the body: - push through pain and exhaustion - look calm while holding chaos inside - numb with screens, work, food, alcohol - value productivity over presence That conditioning tells us our body’s signals are inconvenient or weak. So we override them… until they scream (burnout, illness, anxiety, depression, gut issues, inflamation). But your body isn’t the enemy, it’s the map. Every emotion, memory, and pattern lives in your nervous system. Coming back to the body lets you release stored stress, find safety, and reclaim energy that’s been locked up in survival mode. Somatic work isn’t airy-fairy; it’s deeply practical: slowing your breath, noticing a clenched jaw, grounding your feet, shaking off tension, learning to tolerate big feelings without shutting down. It’s where real, lasting change happens because you’re not just thinking about healing, you’re experiencing it. Can you tell I'm extremely passionate about this? 😝

I hold all my tension in my jaw, neck and shoulders 🫠 The release exercises are good to give your body a break from the constant tension and hopefully avoid additional niggles that come up from storing the tension long term.

My body has been in need of extra rest and sleep this week, so I’ve been giving it that instead of continuing to push through all the time like I usually do. Still feeling next level exhausted but the extra sleep and rest is helping.
Day 2 Recap
Check in! Share your thoughts, anything thing that came up in the journal prompts you'd like to explore, etc. This space is here for you, it’s safe to share whatever comes up during the challenge, whether that’s a win, a struggle, or just how you’re feeling. Share from the heart, but please keep in mind this isn’t the place for oversharing personal trauma. Keep it gentle for yourself and respectful for the group. 💛 I'm always a DM away if you want to dive deeper into anything that comes up, too!

I’m prioritising my nightly skincare routine and meditation/journalling practice this week to re-build the habits. It doesn’t take long to do the activities but it’s so beneficial to my sleep and overall mental health because it helps my body calm down and know sleep is coming. Other self care activities I regularly practice are mindful exercise, listening to music/meditations and reading. Keen to see whatever others are prioritising!
