Guidance on redesigning my n8n + slack Self-Accountability workflow
I’ve built a self-accountability system in n8n that checks in with the user on Slack three times a day, morning (plans), midday (progress), and evening (reflection). The system collects responses and provides direct, no-fluff feedback to help the user stay honest and consistent. Right now, it’s designed for a single user only. My goal is to redesign it so that multiple users in a Slack workspace can use it independently, with their check-ins and feedback kept private. I’ve recorded a short Loom walkthrough explaining how it currently works. The current setup feels a bit “held together with duct tape,” so I’d love guidance on how to improve or re-architect it properly. Guidance on redesigning my n8n + slack Self-Accountability workflow
Why Most Automations Fail in Real-World Use (and How to Fix It)
Building automations in a clean test environment is easy, it's when real users touch it that everything falls apart. Here’s what usually breaks things: ⚠️ Random data formats (dates, phone numbers, emails) ⚠️ API limits that only appear at scale ⚠️ “Small” updates from tools that shift field names or IDs ⚠️ Missed error handling that sends data into the void That’s why every workflow I build today includes: ✅ Validation steps before processing ✅ Retry logic with fallbacks ✅ Error alerts sent straight to Slack ✅ A “last successful run” tracker Automations aren’t meant to be perfect, they’re meant to recover fast when things go wrong. What’s the weirdest way one of your automations has failed in production?

@Natalia Smitt that's a great approach! Retry logic with fallbacks is something that consumes my time, hardly get it right on the first try😅. One issue that I used to run into was related to Slack oauth scopes. Took some time to figure that out. Still learning, but better than yesterday.
⚙️ How I Got Claude To Control My Workflow With MCP + n8n
I recently built something wild — Connected Claude to an MCP Server running inside n8n… and it changed everything. ⚡ Now Claude doesn’t just chat — it sends Gmail emails, calculates data, and runs workflows automatically. No Zapier, no extra APIs — all in one connected system. 💼 Case Study: One of my daily email + data workflows took around 60 minutes. After setting up MCP + n8n, Claude handles it in under 5 minutes. That’s 22+ hours saved every month, and about $150–200 in SaaS costs eliminated. Imagine your AI not just replying — but actually executing tasks across your business tools. That’s what MCP enables. It’s like giving Claude real hands and a keyboard. 🧠💻 This isn’t “automation.” This is AI integration at the action level — where your model can think, decide, and perform. And once you see it work, it’s hard to go back. 🚀

Hey @Ghulam Mustafa, this is quite interesting! I am still learning about mcp at the moment, would you kindly share how you achieved this exactly? Thanks in advance
Agent Kit?
yooo! Is anyone working on with OpenAI's Agent Builder? What are you working on? What are you finding? Let's collab in the comments :)

Hey @Kemmet Dominguez , I was playing with it, specially the mcp. They made it look way simpler than it actually is. Still trying to get it to work as I intend. I'll update this comment if I make any progress.
Slack Set Status
Hi everyone, i created a slack bot and used this set status from the docs but it isnt working for the channels in which the bot is in because it uses a thread id, is there a way out of this. would love some feedback.

I ran into a similar issue and @Esther Crmwiz's solution is the simplest workaround. On a side note - I like how at the bottom it says sochne do...😆
