✨ A Gentle Reminder as the New Year Approaches ✨
As a somatic, trauma-informed coach, I want to offer a different perspective to the loud “New Year, New You” energy. If you’ve lived with trauma, burnout, chronic stress, or emotional overload, your nervous system doesn’t respond well to pressure, force, or sudden change. When we rush into big resolutions, strict routines, or unrealistic goals, the nervous system often hears: ⚠️ “Danger. Too much. Not safe.” And what happens then? • You feel overwhelmed • You freeze or shut down • You abandon the goal • You get sick or exhausted • Your inner critic gets louder • Your self-esteem takes another hit Not because you’re weak. But because your system was pushed beyond its window of tolerance. 💛 Healing isn’t about willpower. It’s about capacity. In somatic work, we move slowly, gently, and in titrated doses. Titration means small, manageable steps that your nervous system can integrate without overwhelm. Think: • 5% more safety, not 100% transformation • One gentle habit, not a total life overhaul • Regulation before motivation • Presence before productivity Your nervous system learns through consistency and safety, not shock and force. 🌿 Instead of asking:“What do I need to fix about myself this year?” Try asking: “What feels supportive and doable for my body right now? ”“What would help my system feel just a little safer today? ”“What is one tiny step I can sustain?” There is no rush. There is no deadline on healing and growth. You are not broken and you don’t need to become a “new” version of yourself. You are allowed to build slowly, rest often, and honour your pace. This year, let it be about:✨ Regulation over resolution✨ Safety over self-pressure✨ Gentle expansion over burnout You’re not behind. Your body is wise. And slow is often the fastest way to real, lasting change 💛 Take your time, and be gentle. Tx
