First build
Last week I finished my first build. I got the body and neck from an Amazon return auction site. It was a kit and really junky components, so I put those aside. I did most of the shopping on StewMac. Overwound humbuckers in black w/no cover 500k volume and neck pickup pots Pot for the bridge pickup is a DTDP push pull pot so i can take it out of phase Black knobs I routed everything through one volume knob so I could put a kill switch in. Kill switch has a purple LED when plugged in Pure Tone stereo jack. I don't run stereo, but needed it so I didn't need a switch for the kill switch LED Black locking tuners Put in black bridge and tailpiece I used copper tape in the cavity to reduce interference. Stained it purple with a little sunburst effect. Finished with nitrocellulose lacquer in gloss. Sounds better than I could have ever hoped.

@Garrett Calcaterra It works best when the tone knobs are not fully at 10. It has a kind of a hollow sound. You get the note and tone, but like it's missing some of the middle.

@M. Rob Ronin Baum That was my fear the whole time!
Best budget-friendly guitar body and neck company?
So I'm scheming up my next custom electric guitar, and am wondering what companies/suppliers you recommend for buying affordable bodies and necks? I've done a Warmoth build before, and their work is fantastic but beyond my budget for this project. So far on my list, I have Guitar Fetish, which is pretty well known, and then this company I'd never heard of before called Supra-Tone. Anyone had an experience with either one? Other companies you recommend? For anyone interested in the actual project, I'm looking to build a Tele Modern Player Plus style guitar (sort of like a Nashville Telecaster, but with a split-able humbucker in the bridge), but I want the body to be contoured since I plan on using this for gigs and need it to be comfy 😀. No one I've found actually makes that configuration body, so I have bit of routing and sanding work to do regardless. Just debating whether to buy an unfinished body and "start from scratch" or to find a junker Squier tele nearby and strip it down. Choices, choices, choices!

@Will OBryant I saw an Instagram reel of a lady in NYC that makes guitars out of wood from old local buildings

@Will OBryant Yeah, that would be dope. And I bet would bring a pretty penny
Inquiring Minds Want To Know…
This is a fun little post. The more people who participate, the more fun it is. It's designed to bring the community a little closer together, and potentially make some new friends we can hang out with and jam with in person. Here's how it works… Tell us where you live. If you're in the US, check the comments to see if someone has already posted your state. If you find your state, reply to that comment with your city/town. If you don't find your state, comment to this post with your city and state. If you live in Canada, look for your province instead of state. If you're not in Canada or the US, look for your country instead of state. OPTIONAL: add a fun fact about your city/state. I'll start with the first comment below.
