Customer Discovery Survey
Hey everyone, need a little help. I am doing a customer discovery survey for my new product. It should take no more than 5 minutes. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance. Survey link: https://forms.gle/82kqEenrSbNrCgpz7

What books do you recommend for business?
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: Enjoyable read or audible book. Funny and sets perspective in life. How to Win Friends and Influence People: Classic and great to teach about communication with people. Nail it Then Scale it: Great business book for nailing the business model then scaling. Buy Then Build: Is a good book if you are looking to purchase an existing business. Crossing the Chasm: Tech based but can be for a company hitting flat sales after a successful launch. The 4-Hour Work Week: Are you looking to escape your W-2 job and start an owner absentee model? (I have more but these were my favorites this year)

@David Jones The Lean Startup by Eric Ries for startups. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant by Eric Jorgensen for personal development (it’s free online). 2 more bonus go tos: for general business, The Goal by Eliayu Goldratt, super easy read and The Amazon Leadership Principles: https://www.amazon.jobs/content/en/our-workplace/leadership-principles
Veteran Entrepreneurship Resources
As I get my startup going, I have been getting into as many Veteran-focused resources as I can. I did the DAV Patriot Boot Camp in Cincinnati in May (3 days) and just started the IVMF Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans through Syracuse University (1 month online/1 week in person). In my research I have found several others but I have been focused on programs that are free and not looking to make investments, take equity or charge people. Both programs have been incredibly professional, have great speakers, resources that have saved $$$. Something I learned in my first startup, early on, utilize as many resources as possible or available. Once things start getting too busy, you will wish you had. It's also a great place to meet other vets doing the same thing. Once things take off, it also gets lonely sometimes at the top and its nice to talk to someone else who gets what you are going through. Here are the programs I am in/thinking about applying to: IVMF Entrepreneurship Boot Camp For Veterans https://ivmf.syracuse.edu/programs/entrepreneurship/start-up/ebv/ DAV Patriot Bootcamp https://patriotbootcamp.org/ PenFed Veteran Entrepreneurship Program https://penfedfoundation.org/how-we-help/vep/
FIRST CLIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So after all my hard work emailing, and going out to businesses I finally got my first client tomorrow working with the Mansfield housing department doing a half day scan for them. I am so happy can't express how I feel to be honest all this hard work and stress has paid off. This will be the first of many clients going forward. Tomorrow I will be putting my best foot forward and doing the best work I have ever done in my life. Thank you to everyone who had given me advice in the group it all was extremely valuable getting me to the moment.

Congratulations! Knock it out of the park and when it comes time at the end for the invoice, make sure to do a bit of an in person survey to make sure you met or exceeded their expectations. If they say you did, offer them a discount if they give you 5 or 10 referrals, where they email their contacts in other towns in their positions and refer you and talk about the great job you did. Also see if they are willing to give you a testimonial, to put on your website. Also, swag, something under $25 like a Yeti or Stanley-knockoff heavy duty cup.
Feedback Please
What courses are you using? What Would you like to see for resources? What is confusing? How can I help?

One thing that I always feel woefully unprepared in is actually the HR/People stuff. Hiring your first employee, PEOs, ICHRAs, benefits, employee handbooks, onboarding, offboarding, terminations, 1099 vs W2s.
