I went with a stickbow becuase it seemed like the more affordable option to get started in archery and wanted to start small to see if I liked it, can always upgrade later. Now that I have both a recurve and a compound - I like them both for different reasons, but find myself spending more time shooting my recurve. It feels like the recurve is developing an extremely nuanced skill, where the compound - still requires skill, but feels like it's more about tuning the machine.
