Had a massive win this morning and broke through an intense plateau, achieving a new milestone in this cutting phase. 269.3 lbs, 31 pounds down since August 23rd. The lowest body weight I’ve had since Lily has been born, while still maintaining a good level of strength and massively improved mobility and cardio base. Here’s what made it happen: 1.) That 500 lbs squat changed me. When you put yourself in such an intense experience with The Impossible where you have to pull more out than you ever dreamed you would have access to, you can fundamentally change in 10 seconds. 2.) I have finally dedicated myself to a Purpose so great that anything that could compromise that Mission is not even remotely tempting. All I see is the work to be done and the victory that will ensue. 3.) I have built so much respect and love for myself, for who I’m building, that I want to see that man win. This is maybe the most crucial step. Still more work to be done, but this progress feels amazing…and it just makes me want to work harder 👊🏻❤️‍🔥 What are the greatest challenges you’ve faced in your Life and how do you work every day to overcome them? 🙏🏻

Don’t Let Life Happen to You…
This quote is one of the lesser known from da Vinci, yet I believe it’s one of the most profound ideas he ever put forth. It ties in quite nicely with the idea of ownership we discussed in the last post, but it takes the construct one step further. When we sit back and allow Life to happen to us, we are actually giving up responsibility for those things that happen to us and because of us, and this leads to total sacrifice of personal power… You see, they got it wrong in Spider-Man. Great Power doesn’t come with great Responsibility, it’s the other way around entirely. With great Responsibility, comes great Power. The more we take ownership, take responsibility of the things that happen to us and because of us, the more Power we gain over those situations. It was not my fault I got cancer when I was 18, but fault is irrelevant. What matters is I took responsibility for how I was going to react to that situation. That made all the difference, and is one of the reasons I’m still alive today. Take back responsibility for Life’s circumstances, and earn the Power over Life that comes with it… Then go out and Happen to Life. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below ⬇️🙏🏻 BE IMPOSSIBLE ❤️‍🔥

So true. Everything you have been through Matthew. You could have sat back and lived off assistance and been labeled handicapped for the rest of your life, but you didn't do that. You proved people wrong. You have done things you have said you would have never done had you not been through all of this. Like skiing in Breckenridge, CO, water skiing, Running 1/2 marathons, bringing a community together for a great cause, raising a lot of money for charity, becoming first para athlete to squat 500 lbs, becoming a great motivational speaker and meeting the love of your life and having the greatest gift of all, Lily. You are such a huge inspiration. I am so proud of you. Love you. ❤️🫂🎗
Meal Prep Made Simple
Chef Lily and I did some awesome meal prep this morning. 🙏🏻 Meal prep can be a pretty daunting task, but it’s a crucial piece to fueling healthfully. You have to set yourself up for success in the moments when it gets difficult so you don’t fall off the path. 1.) You need something Healthy 2.) You need something Convenient 3.) You need something Delicious you are excited to eat Canned and Frozen options are perfect for meeting these criteria, especially in the Convenience rule. The luxury of a well cooked and prepared meal is not often available with busy lives. This is especially true when you have a 1 year old as your Sous-Chef 😂🙏🏻 This whole prep took about 15-20 mins and will feed me and Lily for the next few days. If you guys have any good meal prep recipes or tips, leave them in the comments, we’d love to hear your approach! Take care, and as always…Be Impossible ❤️‍🔥 Best, Matt

Take Ownership of Everything…
This quote from Nick is brutal, but absolutely true. He is ex special forces and a fellow handicapped person and he is a brilliant mind who does a lot of great work in the space. We spend a lot of time and energy looking at fault, looking for who/what to blame for anything negative in our lives. This is a waste of time. Even if we would be successful in determining “fault,” it does absolutely nothing for remedying the problem. Whether a certain challenge is our fault or not does nothing to change the fact that it is our responsibility to overcome it. And when we recognize this, we can begin to put all of our time and energy and resource into taking ownership of, solving, and overcoming the challenge before us. We aren’t always to blame for The Impossible in our lives, but we are ALWAYS responsible for how we respond to it. Own it. BE IMPOSSIBLE ❤️‍🔥
