I had a discussion today with a family member about their anger. Their statement was that they need to "change" that anger. My statement back to them was that they need to set it down. Changing emotions without foundations is what many try to do. However, you cannot change how you feel or react unless you put that emotion outside of yourself and question why you are feeling that or reacting a certain way. Many people learned something when they were younger and carry that suitcase (baggage) their whole life. Next time you see a 5-year-old or 9-year-old or even a teenager, ask them how long it takes to drive 60 miles? How much does a car cost? A house? What time is it when the sun comes up? These questions are not something that a child can commonly answer - their viewpoint is only on what they know in their limited time on earth. So, why do we choose to carry baggage that we acquired at a young age? I write this post for those of you struggling with overthinking, trying to figure it ALL OUT, getting angry at yourself for not being - whatever you THINK you need to be to have success....STOP. Know that what you learned last week is more than many will learn in their lifetime! Give yourself the greatest gift and take the step!
