Lesson 5: Grow Your Audience (No Ads Needed)
Why Announcing Your Presence Matters. Don’t wait until everything’s perfect — just start. Early action builds excitement, trust, and gets your first enquiries rolling. Step 1: Announce to Your Network Start with people who already know you.Where: - Personal Facebook & Instagram posts - WhatsApp broadcast - Email to old contacts What to say (keep it simple & confident):“Big news! I’ve launched my travel business 🎉 Stress-free holidays, beach breaks, and family getaways — DM me to start planning.” Step 2: Grow Your First 100 Followers - Invite friends/family to follow your page - Share tips or deals in travel/community groups - Reply to comments & reactions → then hit Invite to Follow - Make it a habit: check engagement daily, invite non-followers (see the videos) 👉 Warm leads (people already liking/commenting) are your fastest growth path. Step 3: Boost Engagement with an Offer - Giveaway: “Win a lounge pass! Follow + tag a friend — winner in 48h.” - Limited offer: “7 nights Ibiza £499pp – DM to book.” Step 4: Prep Your Page Before Inviting - Welcome post + intro - Eye-catching destination photos - At least 1 value post (travel tip, insider info) - Clear call-to-actions (WhatsApp / DM / link) Quick Launch Timeline - Week 1: Profile setup + 3–5 posts - Week 2: Announcement + giveaway/offer - Week 3: Consistent posting + engagement Common Mistakes ❌ Waiting for perfection ❌ Inviting people to an empty page ❌ Forgetting clear CTAs Action Steps ✔ Post your announcement ✔ Send WhatsApp/email blast ✔ Invite warm leads ✔ Launch a giveaway/offer ✔ Track growth & enquiries Progress beats perfection — even 50 followers in week one is a win. Ask Geoff: Office Hours (Week of 25/08/2025) 💬
Hi everyone and welcome to our very first Ask Geoff thread! Every week I’ll open up this space so you can ask me anything about growing your travel business using social media. How it works: - Drop your questions in the comments below any time during the week. Whether it’s about content ideas, converting followers into bookings, or tech tools – nothing is too small or too big. - I’ll personally read and answer every question right here in the thread. Feel free to check back throughout the week to see my responses. - You’re also welcome to help each other out. If you’ve solved a similar problem or have a tip, jump in and share your insight. 🎯 Tip: Be as specific as possible – share examples, platforms, and the challenges you’re facing so I can give you the most actionable advice. Let’s make social media feel a lot less overwhelming and a lot more fun together. I’m looking forward to hearing your questions!

I’ve been wanting to get into social media for sometime. But every time I make a video, I can’t get past the fact that I dislike my voice and paranoid about the way I look. I keep trying to tell myself it’s okay and just to create the content but I keep getting hung up on this. Any advice?

@Geoff Gartland that’s great advice. I will try those things. Guess it’s just getting over that initial feeling. I’ll let you know how I get on. I’ve been watching your stuff for ideas on the pace and the content etc. Yours seem very natural.

Here’s proof that sometimes the simplest content works best 👇 🎥 Reel length: 12 seconds 👀 Views: 1,000,000+ 👍 Likes: 6.6K 💬 Comments: 696 🔁 Shares: 292 The reel was nothing complicated — just filmed on a phone, showing a February beach scene in Benidorm with a short caption: “It’s February… but you live in Benidorm”. 👉 Captions were added directly in Facebook, plus music selected from the app (Coldplay 🎶). ✅ Key takeaway: You don’t need fancy equipment or big production value. A phone, a clear idea, and a simple caption can create viral-level results. Don’t overthink your reels — keep them short, relatable, and easy to watch.
