Question for the business owners of the community...
Omar Question What exactly are you looking for from The Video Dept? I've been struggling with that as I try to make my own thing and learn from what Omar and The Video Dept has built. I've probably watched every video on the channel at least 2x, and they've been incredibly informative. I just finished the most recent Content 2 Cash challenge, and it was helpful. However, one thing that I'm still trying to wrap my brain around as I move forward is: "What are you looking for and willing to pay for from The Video Dept or any similar service?" For example, If I'm a - let's just use Barbershop Owner. I guess I want to use video to increase my visibility. So what am I making? Am I going to The Video Dept to help me make a traditional commercial spot? A talking head that says, "Come to my shop (while I show a few great end result hair cuts)?" Am I making 1 video long form video a week on YouTube and a a couple business related Quality of Life videos on IG? I guess I'm trying to figure out how these videos actually get butts in seats of my barbershop? I'm a video content guy and I worked briefly at a local podcast studio here in Vegas, and I'm still struggling with these questions even after I've met people that make a few podcasts. I'm asking, not to throw shade but to get clarity so I can move forward. The most recent EXCELLENT episode of The Video Dept with Brenden Boyd literally talks about the value of having a digital product. Ok, so is the value in creating a bunch of How-to videos like you can get for free from Omar himself on YouTube? Are you (as the business owner) looking for coaching in how to create a weekly process to make consistent videos? How to make good titles? Are you looking for a place to shoot everything and edit it and return it to you packaged and ready to go like a boutique? The impression that I get is that Omar used to do more of the physical 'build your studio for you' or shoot you in our space thing, but has pivoted away because people are willing to pay for.....

Has anyone signed up for the new Content to Cash Challenge?
Is it today? I keep getting texts about joining the waitlist. There’s a countdown that ends in less than 20 minutes but there’s no link to purchase anything. I don’t see anything that shows a date either. Are the gen admin tickets still on sale?

I’m on the fence to invest in the challenge. But at the same time I want to invest in myself, take a chance, have faith and hope for the best. I don’t have an extra $200. I tell myself it’s only $11 a day for 18 days to save up. No big deal right? 😅🫣 So I made a little notes scratch off for myself, in hopes to achieve this small daunting task.

Take the course. From what I saw, it’s perfect for people beginning the journey or for those whose major hurdle is technical or structural. It looks like you’ll be able to take off running once the 5 days are over. There was an amazing testimony from a guy in the UK who was in a bad financial situation, borrowed money for the course, completed it, took action, and it so significantly changed his life that he was ready for the Inner Circle. Invest in yourself. I’m not saying take a loan, but if it means missing coffee and a few lunches, it might be one of the best choices you could make. I don’t know Omar personally, so I’m just speaking from what I saw. Good luck. Let 2025 be the year of dedication, not hesitation.

I never received the link.
Need some clarity to get started!
Sorry for the long rant, but I need some assistance: I’m looking for help with clarity of message. I’m *eager* to start the first episode of my podcast. I’ve got my equipment set up. I used to be a video editor and producer along with making YouTube videos in the tech space, but left that niche behind. I’m not uncomfortable with production. The problem: I was an out of work creative for years. Most of my friends are the same: Former freelance editors unable to truly break into their professions, now aged out. They’re all similarly experienced cartoonists, directors, animators, writers, and actors, too. Friends, former co-workers, acquaintances - it’s a pretty dismal graveyard of unfulfilled talent and ambition. I’ve had a powerful mind shift in the past few years. I believe that it is *imperative* that creatives become entrepreneurs. The model that creatives make product for another company that determines their value at a whim, is self destructive. When artists separate their passion from their business, the new focus on financial stability frees them up to be creatively unleashed. I want creatives to change their mindsets about giving away their skillsets and being ‘fortunate to work for someone else’. However, stability must come first, and that only comes from understanding your own tribe and selling directly to them. I’m stuck because that all sounds good, but I don’t have the bag either. I’ve created my avatar, which is me from 5 years ago. I also have a niece, now 30, who went to school to be an animator but has been a Starbucks barista or retail associate for years. I already know where her path is going because all of my friends and I have been there and never elevated out of it. That is a dead end. The Pain Point is that creatives need a mindset shift. The Obsessed solution is ?????? It can’t just be motivational speeches, right? I had an awakening moment when I realized that even if I had become some high level producer or video editor, there’s no stability. What’s next? What could I even do with the skillsets I had be trying to utilize for years? That’s person in that space is the audience that I want to serve and transform. I want to help them figure out what’s next.
