First Starter Post _ Thanks for the invite Ryan!
My First post. Thank you for having me. I am in my CPA solopreneur journey and have been in it for 5 years. I don't have any rental properties right now. Maybe soon. Quick question for your guys? So I keep getting confused with the backdoor Roth conversion. I thought that the $70,000 limitation was on a defined contribution plan, and by defined contribution plan, I mean the 401(k). So then does that mean that you can only do a backdoor Roth conversion on a company-sponsored plan and not your individual retirement account?

Hi David. I don't know the answer, but if you are interested in a self-directed 401(k) with checkbook control, check out www.mysolo401k.net. You would qualify if you are self-employed and have no full-time employees other than a spouse. I created one last year and am continually blown away by how I can invest 401k dollars (real estate, bitcoin, start up a business, etc. . .)
ROBs
What is your opinion on roll over business startups as a way of growing your retirement funds tax free, while building your wealth?

Hi Billie. We are considering ROBS at this time. Shoot me a message if you want to chat about ROBS. I'm no expert, but my mind is blown that I can use self directed 401k cash to start a business, even a real estate business. I am learning about the limitations but think ROBS might be an option for us. Like Ryan said, however, compliance is complicated. I learned today that Roth money cannot be used in ROBS, only traditional 401k/IRA dollars.
