Accounting Software
What accounting software does everyone use? From time to time I see a new product pop up in this space and its tempting to be distracted learning new ideas. Clearly we can't pivot for every cool new software idea, so Im curious if folks could share their fav and why?

I use QBO, with TaxDome and Lacerte. Trying to get some automations in using n8n and other AI tools, but work in progress.

@Michael Bettan I started to experiment with it primarily for sales and marketing purposes, specifically for lead generation and data gathering.
Big news for California CPAs!
AB 1175 just passed - major changes coming to CPA licensing in CA (effective Jan 2027): What's changing: - โœ… Bachelor's degree with accounting concentration - โœ… 2 years experience - โœ… Pass the CPA exam - โŒ NO MORE 150-unit requirement! Why it matters: The expensive "5th year" barrier is gone, making it more accessible to enter the profession. Plus, more flexible experience options and better mobility for out-of-state CPAs.

I mean...it helps, but it's not THE solution. The pipeline problem is way bigger than the 150 units. It's the pay, the hours, the culture, the fact that every accounting student hears horror stories about busy season. This removes a cost barrier, which is good, but if the profession itself isn't attractive, you're just making it easier to enter something people still don't want to do.
First Starter Post _ Thanks for the invite Ryan!
My First post. Thank you for having me. I am in my CPA solopreneur journey and have been in it for 5 years. I don't have any rental properties right now. Maybe soon. Quick question for your guys? So I keep getting confused with the backdoor Roth conversion. I thought that the $70,000 limitation was on a defined contribution plan, and by defined contribution plan, I mean the 401(k). So then does that mean that you can only do a backdoor Roth conversion on a company-sponsored plan and not your individual retirement account?
