Tax day, which is something I do not mind. Living in a society means we invest it government run activities. WHAT we fund with the tax money is very political, except for some things like fire fighters. Beyond working with the accountant, the rest of my day is very financially organized as well given our expansion strategy. As someone who has taught PhD students advanced statistics, accounting is my evil opposite. Stats guys live and learn to love bands of error. Accountants hate it! The main item I designed around today was the beautiful mottled silk tie in malachite green. • Jacket — DOJ-009 (Missoni): A sophisticated olive wool jacket from Italian fashion house Missoni, featuring a matte finish and medium-to-heavy weight construction perfect for a cooler spring morning. This single-breasted, 3-button silhouette with notched lapels and no rear vents creates a clean, modern Italian line—ideal for projecting quiet authority during financial strategy discussions. • Shirt — DS-009 (Nordstrom): A classic white cotton dress shirt with subtle diamond texture weave, lending visual interest without competing with the olive jacket. The point collar pairs beautifully with the knit tie, while the single-button barrel cuffs keep the look accessible yet refined for internal meetings. • Undershirt — US-003 (Pro Club): A heavyweight white cotton crew neck providing solid coverage beneath the textured dress shirt—no show-through risk. • Trousers — SL-007 (Santorelli): Tobacco-brown flat-front slacks in luxurious Super 110s wool. The medium drape falls elegantly without heaviness, and the earth-tone color creates a cohesive autumn palette when paired with the olive jacket. A masterclass in separates coordination. • Tie — NT-043 (Fort Belvedere): A malachite green knit silk tie in Fort Belvedere's signature "Cri de la Soie" (crunchy Swiss silk) construction. The rich green harmonizes beautifully with the olive jacket while adding textural depth. At 3" width and 57" length, it's perfectly proportioned for a classic four-in-hand knot. The low sheen complements the jacket's matte finish.

The tie goes well with the outfit.
1920's
I’m curious what you all think about men’s fashion in the 1920s? This thought was sparked by the show Peaky Blinders (and the new movie, which I have yet to watch). I know the wardrobe in the show is stylized to look “cool,” but it got me thinking about something. What caused men to stop dressing up? If you look at photos of men from roughly 1910–1940, there’s a noticeable difference. Suits, hats, structured clothing. It wasn’t just fashion; it was a sense of respect and presence. Today, that level of effort feels rare. My initial thought is that the decline in dress standards relates to major economic and cultural changes: the rise of more casual workplaces, evolving social norms, and shifting ideas about class and identity. However, I wonder if these reasons fully capture the change. Here’s what I’m really wondering: Is there a place for 1920s-style fashion today? Would wearing that level of dress (even casually, like to the grocery store) just come off as a costume now? Or is it only “strange” because no one does it anymore? So what I am wondering… What if a group of guys just decided to bring it back? Not as a gimmick, but as a standard. Dressing well not to stand out but to show respect for themselves and others. If people asked why, and the answer was simply: “Because I want to present myself with respect.” Do you think that could actually shift how people view men’s fashion over time? Or is that era gone for good? P.S. I am not knocking anyone's fashion in this group, and everyone is looking like a BOSS in their chosen style. And the people here who are learning every day, you are in the right spot. I have been checking in with RMRS for about 10 years now, and it has helped me tremendously.
Self Realization
As many of you know, I am genuinely interested in feedback on my outfits as I am still a novice on my sartorial journey. As a scientist, I value well-intended and specific feedback, even when it might bruise my ego. I take my ego out of the equation and just focus on the benefit of learning. For any who have authored academic papers in peer-reviewed journals, you know what I mean. Yesterday, while my business partner and I were waiting in line at the bank, someone came up to me (much closer than one would normally do when not knowing a person) and began with "ever since you came into this bank, I have felt uncomfortable!" My first thought was that this guy was mentally unstable (recall that my PhD is in clinical psychology, so we're always thinking this is a possibility!). He continues, "I should have brought my jacket in the from the car at least." "You look great, man, and most of us aren't keeping up!" I don't dress to be better than my fellow man, but to be better than my former self. I honestly believe that is my goal. But, the self-realization part here is that it does feel good to hear such feedback. There's nothing brash or self-aggrandizing about getting external reinforcement for something important to us.

I get this a lot in several aspects of my life. Work, dress, fitness, cooking, hobbies. Like you I do it for self improvement, what can I do to improve myself. Yes it is nice to get the positive feedback but I do it for me.
April 7th LIVE Call: Member Spotlight Night!
This Tuesday, April 7th at 5PM Central US, we're doing something a little different — and way more fun. Instead of bringing in another outside expert… we're putting the spotlight on our own members. 🎉 Three guys from right inside this community are stepping up to share their real experiences — and honestly? These are always our best sessions. No scripts. No slides. Just real talk from real people who've been on the same journey as you. Meet Your Guest Speakers: - Style: @Brian McGuire - Fragrance: @Renato Carotti - Watches: @Jeffrey Plotka They'll be sharing how they got started, what they've learned along the way, what's worked, what most guys still get wrong - and everything in between. If you've ever wanted to hear from guys who are actually living this stuff (not just teaching it), this is the one to show up for. Come hang, ask questions, and be part of the conversation. 👊 Join the call here: https://www.skool.com/rmrs/calendar?eid=b1d757fbc6e94497b1666581e4c21bc6 See you there! 🙌
