This Labor Day, A Thank You to Our Founding Members 🙏🎸
Hey everyone 👋 On this Labor Day, we want to pause and recognize the hard work, dedication, and perseverance it takes to build something meaningful. That applies not only to us as a small family-owned company, but to you, our community, for being here and helping us shape Omni Guitars from the ground up. 💪 First off, I just want to say thank you! Omni Guitars is still here, alive and well, and that’s because of you, our founding members. This past year has been an amazing journey full of growth, lessons, and a few setbacks along the way. We’ve learned so much about what it takes to run a community-driven brand like this, and while we’ve made mistakes, we’re committed to making things better moving forward. 🙏 Here’s the truth: running a group and business like this costs real money. Shipping, product development, giveaways, keeping the lights on… it all adds up. If we could give away a free guitar or pedal every day, trust me, we would 🎸and have aspirations to make that happen. But the reality is if we did that, we’d go broke very quickly. That’s the tough balance we’ve been working to figure out. At the end of the day, we’re a small family-owned company doing this out of love for the guitar ❤️, not money. We’ve done our best to give out free or heavily discounted gear, like the free strings we send out even though they cost us every single month, because we believe in making music more accessible. But we also need to find a way to sustain this so it lasts for the long haul. Right now, we’re in a regrouping phase. We’ve got some exciting projects in the works 🚀, but they take time (and money 😅). One thing we’ve realized is that we need to do a better job of sharing our vision with you. Omni means “all” or “every,” and that’s the heart of this brand: to build something where everyone feels they belong and their voice matters. This community was never meant to just be about “what’s in it for me?” It’s about what we can do together to make a bigger impact. Our long-term vision is to launch a nonprofit to give guitars and lessons to military veterans, first responders, kids, and anyone battling mental health challenges. 💪 Music has the power to heal, break down walls, and carry people through dark times. That’s the bigger picture. 🌍✨

Beatles Let it be
🎸 Joe Bonamassa’s Top-Wrap Technique
Traditionally, strings on a Gibson Les Paul are threaded through the tailpiece from the back, anchoring the ball end inside. Bonamassa, inspired by legends like Jimmy Page and Billy Gibbons, flips this approach. He feeds the strings through the tailpiece from the neck side and wraps them over the top before heading to the tuning pegs. This method, known as "top-wrapping," reduces the break angle over the bridge, resulting in a slinkier feel and decreased tension on the strings. Bonamassa claims that since adopting this technique, he hasn't broken a single string on his Les Pauls during extensive touring. 🔧 Additional Tips to Prevent String Breakage While the top-wrap method is effective, combining it with other best practices can further minimize string breakage: - Inspect and Maintain Hardware: Regularly check the nut, saddle, and bridge for sharp edges or burrs that can wear down strings. Applying a lubricant like graphite (from a pencil) or specialized products can reduce friction points. - Proper String Stretching: After installing new strings, gently stretch them to help settle into tuning stability and reduce the likelihood of breakage due to sudden tension changes. - Use Appropriate Picks: Heavy or worn picks with sharp edges can damage strings. Regularly inspect and replace picks to ensure they don't contribute to string wear. - Regular Cleaning: Wipe down strings after playing to remove sweat and oils, which can corrode and weaken them over time. - Choose the Right Strings: Ensure you're using strings that match your playing style and guitar setup. For instance, if you frequently use alternate tunings, consider strings designed to handle the associated tension changes. 🛠️ Implementing the Top-Wrap Method To try the top-wrap technique: 1. Thread the string through the tailpiece from the neck side. 2. Wrap it over the top of the tailpiece. 3. Proceed to string it through the tuning peg as usual. This method is reversible and can be experimented with to see if it suits your playing style.
