Business??
I'm a trained Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist and holistic practitioner. I currently see a few clients a week in private practice but work 2.5 days for a Counselling company. I do 15 clinical hours/sessions per week for that company, earning £1500 per month. If I was seeing 15 clients in private practice per week, I would earn £4000 per month. It seems like I should Jack the job but it's not so easy to get 15 regular clients for private practice. That's why I'm here. Already started writing the book

THE CRITICAL QUESTION TO ANSWER BEFORE YOU WRITE YOUR BUSINESS BOOK
Before you write a single word of your book, before you pick a title, before you think about chapters or structure or any of that... you and I must answer one question. Just one. It's this: Why? Why do you want to write your book? Here are some of the most common reasons people give me: - Lead generation (I often give my books away) - To make money - Enhanced reputation and higher fees - Status in your marketplace - Passive income - Legacy - Sharing your authentic message - Proving something to yourself (and maybe to a few others who said you couldn't) - Fun - Helping people with what you know And then there's the last one. The one I don't often share openly. Significance. Here's what I know about myself. One of the real reasons I do what I do is for significance. Not for ego. Not for showing off. But that deep, honest feeling of mattering. Of making a difference. Of knowing that what you know has helped someone else move forward. Money? As I always say, money is the silent applause for a job well done. I absolutely want to make money. But it's the result, not the reason. The reason is significance. And here's the thing about writing a book. Whether you write it for leads, for fees, for legacy, or for significance, the act of writing it forces you to do something incredibly valuable. It makes you take everything you know, everything you've experienced, and divide it into the step-by-step actions that somebody else needs to take to get the outcomes they're looking for. That alone is worth it. They always say: with a big enough why, the what and the how appear. So let me ask you directly right here in the comments... If you've already written a book: what was your WHY? Did it turn out to be what you expected? If you're thinking about writing a book: what's holding you back from getting crystal clear on your why?

That's great, and yes I would probably agree with you on all of that. Firstly I think it's about having a passive income that earns outside private practice, but also getting all my thoughts and techniques together it one place that can then hopefully help someone. What holds me back, is the noise, the "you can't do this", "what's the point", "you don't know enough", etc. But when I say and wow that first chapter of tips last week, I wrote over 1000 words and thoroughly enjoyed it
100 tips
Reading the PDF of "write a book in 10 days". Very engaging. But you make it sound super easy to just reel off 100 tips. I think it will take me more than 10 days to just come up with the tips. Any tips?? 😀

@Peter Thomson Thank you. It had been so helpful so far for me to get clarity on my ideal client and who I am speaking to. Surprisingly the 10 chapters came easily and the first 10 tips, but wondering how I could replicate that for every chapter without it being repetitive. As you say, it is simple but not easy, and why would it be

@Pash Lal thanks, never heard of Comet but I do prefer Gemini to ChatGPT, but as you say may be good to use all and take bits of each
What's Your Unique Value Proposition? (And Why It Matters)
Over my many years in business, I've come to realise that one of the most powerful tools we can have is our Unique Value Proposition, our UVP. It's not just a fancy marketing term. It's the very essence of what we bring to our clients and to the marketplace. The problem? Most people get this wrong. They create something bland. Something that could apply to almost anyone in their field. In this video, I walk you through my 5-step formula for creating a UVP that actually attracts those "love to work with" high-paying clients. Have a watch and let me know what you think. And if you're open to. it, drop your current UVP below. Let's see if we can sharpen it together. 👇

Love your UVP Peter
Introduction
Just want to say Hi, and well done. I was just scrolling through FB when a post popped up that lead me here. So here I am. Curious. I am a Psychotherapist in Private Practice. Business has been good, but can never seem to get past a certain number of clients, and enquiries are really slow currently for some reason. Clients finish and nobody is filling the gaps. Maybe you can help?

NLP is overly complicated, I agree, but I do use the sub- modalities, Swish technique & anchors. Guided imagery is great in therapy
