🎉 It’s Friday—aka “I survived the week” day 🎉
Which one are you today? ☕ Running purely on caffeine and vibes 🧠 Brain is already in weekend mode 🧺 Mentally making a to-do list you won’t do 😴 Exhausted but still somehow overstimulated ✨ Proud of yourself for doing hard things this week No pressure to be productive today. Sometimes showing up is the win. Drop your Friday mood in the comments 👇 GIFs strongly encouraged 😎🎬

Snow day!
The US is about to be hit with a major winter storm! For some of us here, that means lots of time indoors with littles(and bigs) who may be experiencing some cabin fever! Drop below your favorite indoor activity to keep kids entertained during a major snow storm! (Keep in mind, it’s good for brains to be bored too!)

Behaviors
Hi, all! My 6 year old son has been having issues at school. Little background- he was adopted with he was 4. He was exposed to drugs/alcohol/etc during pregnancy and was raised by his 14 year old brother until he was 3. I know that he has trauma and developmental delays with adhd. He has recently starting kicking chairs in school, hitting himself, and poking himself with the sharp side of the pencil. He also has been showing signs of defiance, but not angrily. Does anyone have an experience with this? We have an appointment with his pediatrician on Tuesday, but it is so hard to NOT take this personally. I hate to see him struggle and just want to help him. Thanks, all! ♡

aww Ashley, I don't have experience to this extent but didn't want to read and run. You are doing an amazing job and it won't be personal. xx I hope you get the help you need x It can be so hardwhen we just don't know what to do for the best. My youngest is waiting for a diagnosis of Autism, he has a lot of trouble regulating his emotions and gets angry very quickly and hit us alot. I havn't found the answer yet but I have found talking to him afterwards and getting him to try and explain how he feels is helping a bit.

@Ashley Johns It is worth asking, alot of kids get diagnosed with both. My 9 year old has an Autism diganosis but they now thinkg its ADHD aswell. Its all so complex. I think no matter what diagnosis though the most important thing is you find a way that works for you to help him and you xxx
Quick tip!
When it comes to the dreaded meltdowns, you can eliminate half the battle if you plan ahead. One of my favorite planning ahead strategies is giving your kids a warning (or 2 or 3 or 10) before a transition. Examples: “You have 5 minutes until we are going to start cleaning up to begin our bed time routine!” (And remind again at 2 minutes and 1 minute!) “We are leaving the house in 10 minutes.” (Remind again at 5 minutes and 2 minutes.) You can utilize visual or audible timers to help with this as well! Let the kids jump in and help with the timer by choosing which timer or asking Alexa to set the timer! Pro tip: once time is up, always follow it up with a choice! For littles: “time to go get a bath! Would you like you stomp like a dinosaur to the bathroom or hop like a kangaroo? For bigs: “time to get your shower! Would you like to end your night with a snack or some hot tea? I can prepare it while you’re winding down!” The options are endless!
