The jeans are the real star of the show.
My new navy blazer is proving to be the Swiss Army knife of the wardrobe. Yesterday it was all business and polished up; today it’s paired with denim and ostrich boots looking like it just signed a cattle contract and closed a board meeting before lunch. That said, the real star of the show is this pair of jeans from 34 Heritage. Without question, the most comfortable jeans I own. I had them tailored into a slight boot cut specifically for my cowboy boots, and now they sit perfectly — no stacking, no fighting the shafts, no looking like I borrowed skinny jeans from a teenager. The fabric blend is 76% cotton, 22% polyamide, and 2% elastane, and you can absolutely feel the difference. They’re not priced like your standard Levi’s or Wranglers, but the material, stretch, and overall comfort make a strong argument for themselves every time you put them on. And finally, the new belt from Anson Belts deserves its own honorable mention. The ostrich texture matches the boots so well it almost looks like they came as a set — which probably means I’m one good hat away from accidentally running for Texas governor.

Checked Shirt: Pass?
I wore a long unused checked shirt for shopping with my wife today. The checks are a mash up between window pane and Tattersall (I think). Brown belt, Tiger Eye bracelet, tan-strap watch, and tan neubuck loafers complete the attire. So far, I only had imagined jeans to suit the shirt. Now, I think my khakhi/bronze chinos do as good a job (or may be a better one). I am imagining burgundy chinos would be ideal (I am not planning on buying one, just thinking theoretically as the majority hue in the checks is burgundy). May be, I can try this with my ivory Chinos as the checks also have whites in between. May be this shirt is more versatile than I thought (in my past life). What do you think folks?

You know I like all your looks. Somehow, I don't know how to say, the shirt and the pants feel not of the same outfit. I need better vocabulary or better judgement. But I owe you this discourse.

Today’s acquisitions included several linen suits, a new sport coat (pictured), and a pair of white tailored linen trousers. The standout piece I'll focus on today is this MTM Hart Schaffner Marx jacket. The textured navy fabric paired with the burgundy patterned lining and coordinating pocket square strikes that perfect balance between sophisticated and relaxed, while the subtle lapel pin adds just enough personality without wandering into “trying too hard” territory. The partial lining and soft construction make it exceptionally breathable and comfortable—an absolute necessity for life here in SATX—while still maintaining the refined structure expected from modern business-casual tailoring. Layered underneath is a patterned Bugatchi OBD, crafted from a 93% cotton and 7% spandex blend that delivers lightweight comfort with just the right amount of flexibility. As for the wheat-colored linen trousers… technically, they belong to one of the new linen suits I picked up today, but after trying them on with the jacket, they immediately drafted themselves into today’s wardrobe rotation. Finally, the brown suede Allen Edmonds loafers ground the entire outfit perfectly, adding warmth and texture that tie everything together effortlessly. Altogether, the look feels relaxed, intentional, and refined. Note: sitting down with a jacket on makes the jacket look big and ruffled...but that's not the case.

Great! How do the AE loafers sizing compare to AE oxford or derby sizing?
