Heavy Wool Suit Thrift shop Find
So I came upon this coat and trousers ensemble today and was especially intrigued by the weight of the trousers. They are somewhat high waisted and heavy, and will need to be altered. Surprisingly, the three-roll-two jacket fit perfectly. The label inside the jacket says Mister Guy, which advertises itself as a fine men’s clothing store in St. Louis. I really don’t know how to describe the wool cloth or the pattern, but I cannot wait until next fall to put together an English/country outfit in the spirit of @Brian McGuire. Oh, and forgive the polo shirt…I was trying to hurry and get photos. Coat and trousers like new…$18.00. So, as I study the pics, I probably needed to stand up straighter. It would make the shoulders fit better and shorten the sleeves. It was a long day! 🥴

Shoe project
I have been looking (thrifting) for a pair of chocolate brown suede loafers to no avail. About a week ago I found this nice pair, leather sole, barely worn, suede loafers from Samuel Windsor. They fit despite being a 10.5 while I wear an 11. I took them home and decided I would try to dye them as they were a lighter color (honey per web site). I am pleased with the end result. All in, the shoes cost $22.00 and the dye another $22. So for just shy of $45. I have the shoes I wanted. First 2 pics are before, 3rd is halfway through and 4th is the finished project.

3/14/2026 Out Shopping
Like most Saturdays when we are home, I went out shopping, stopping at two local charity shops before doing my grocery shopping for the week. Today’’s outfit was a bit casual, just a mid blue shirt with my blue spring/fall coat, white fedora, grey cords and a vintage tie. When I finished my grocery shopping and lunch at home, I went to a friend’s vintage clothing and costume shop, The Alley. There I picked a scarf, two scarf rings and a red beret. The pictures were taken there and one is of the new scarf and one of the new scarf rings.

Very nice casual outfit
Trouser Breaks
I have always thought about breaks as just relating to length but it appears this is just one factor. Quick 3 min video below gets to the point rather quickly. Very informative

I have a current pair at the tailor right now, getting a different than my normal break. Drapes right on the first eyelet on my shoe. I'm excited to see how it turns out
