Commitment statement
My goals seem simple; make my yet to be published website a viable site for mixing and mastering music productions. The road getting there, not so simple. While being a perfectionist should not be an issue, minor rabbit holing might be. I will have to remain vigilant as I progress so I don’t get enamored with a new idea or technique that might lead me to push aside more critical items. Each Intensive, Mixing and Mastering, has showed me just how far I have to go. This is where imposter syndrome could raise its ugly head. But I constantly remind myself to look, listen and observe all media. And it’s evaluating what I observe that makes me believe there’s a place in the market for me. I just have to find my niche. And finding my niche is where this community plays such a vital role. To commit to study 4 days a week on this site with the plan to make it a daily habit is the starting point. Mentorship is another key factor I plan on utilizing along with leaning on many of you for help along the way. And I’m hopeful I can be helpful to all of you as well. I’m looking forward to the challenge.
SSL Bus Compressor 2 $19
I feel like we all already have this since it goes on sale pretty often, but for any newcomers to the community who don't, Solid State Logic's Bus Compressor 2 is on sale for for $19 until New Year's Day. You may want to check Plugin Boutique, too, and take advantage of their rewards program. Here's the link: https://store.solidstatelogic.com/plug-ins-and-iems/ssl-native-bus-compressor-2?utm_source=dot_Digital&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Bus%20Compressor%202%20Holiday%20Sale&utm_content=Software%20Promotion&dm_i=7YS,93OK0,A3TJCD,123GUK,1

Most everyone seems to be having good sales right now. I noticed Antares Auto Tune 2026 was on sale for what looked to be a great price. And included was Auto Key 2. Plugin Boutique was also including a free Vocodist Advent module. Sweetwater offers the same minus the Vocodist. Personally wasn’t in the market for this type of plug in but the deal seems too good to pass up. Any thoughts pro or con? PIB runs this special till 1/4 and Sweetwater has it till 1/1. Don’t understand why the difference between these two suppliers. And has anybody seen a good deal for SSL channel strips anywhere? They were all over the place not too long ago. Thanks.
Unpopular (Audio) Opinions
Kevin McCloskey posted this in The Reverse Engineer community and it was a super interesting thread... so posting here too! Comment below with you biggest unpopular audio opinions... don't hold back 😈 I'll start with a couple: 1) Most gear preferences in the industry are baseless and random. People just follow the crowd and are easily influenced into think things sound "better". 2) Seemingly in contrast to the above... anything other than an SM57 on a snare is a waste of time. We're so used to this sound that it immediately sounds "right" to us.

@Jacob Mattos a couple of thoughts here that may be unpopular because they seem to bear out over time. You get what you pay for and they are what they are. Now that doesn’t mean paying more for something automatically makes it better. Quality is quality at any price. Known high quality manufacturers are sought out because of their products. They are what they are. Unfortunately, many others are what they are no matter how affordable. And they all got that way because the marketplace has separated the wheat from the chaff. And thanks to everyone in this community, finding quality is much, much, easier. Thanks for the help.

Any SSL channel strip works for me. They’re what I’m most familiar with and used to using.
