So this is a continuation of training with Daisy. I have multiple sclerosis and occasionally drop things. I’ve been training her to pick things up. She’s really good with most shapes and textures. I started with a plastic Tupperware and just taught her on that one item to begin with. Then I moved to other plastic things of similar size. Then I moved to different sizes and different materials. She’s still uncomfortable picking up metal things like my keys. But we’ll get there :-) I use high reward treats with the metal objects. Here’s a video of this morning practicing.

You’ll be seeing a lot more of these two… This was their very first training session with me, and we started with Spot. And let me tell you—these two are little rockstars! Great food drives, smart little cookies, and catching on QUICK They’re already starting to understand the game, and you can see how much they love to work. Also… names are not officially locked in yet 👀 So obviously I need some help here… Drop your name suggestions ⬇️

We have been working on the finger part of object retrieval briefly before breakfast most days. Today I remembered to grab my phone.🤪. She is doing so much better. @Amanda Taulborg thank you for the tip to turn away. I made sure to have a “not playing that game” energy when doing that and it was a huge help in moving forward. Today I felt a big shift in her (our?) confidence and now I can now put my finger all the through her mouth! We had one slight pull away but quickly reset. At the end she gave me a great “Me”! Man when they look you in the eyes like that . . . 🥹🥲

Sandy went shopping with me! She practiced rear end awareness, backup with the shopping cart, and ignored the people and crazy noises around her. And also new level unlocked….. Sandy ignored a duck (she LOVES birds), a squirrel, andddd a paper towel (if you know Sandy, she loves a good paper towel)!!!!!!! I am very proud of her tonight!

Last night Sandy practiced some more over. She is really staring to figure it out! We also worked on her wearing the Tigers fit for the game she is going to (vest will be included on game day). Thanks!
