Sandy Training (Wait For The End😉)
Sandy was doing some training with my mom so she could practice working with someone else. At the end she decided just to be sure she got a treat that she would put all four paws on the spot. Please enjoy 🤣

HAHAHAAHAH!!!! Omg I love this 🤣🤣🤣 she's so dang cute! And such a "try hard" ...I mean you did say sit! lol super cute and such great training. That come, around, and sit (nice and straight) was great. Love the various walking directions and that she calmly found the heel position again. And mixing up the commands and spot training is so good for her brain to really learn to focus and to prepare for the unexpected. Awesome training thanks for sharing!!
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year! 🎉
Hi all cool dog humans 👋 Happy Holidays & Happy New Year! 🎉 I hope everyone had a great break filled with love, family, friends, and lots of doggo kisses 🐶💋 I’m really excited for 2026. I’ve got lots of fun ideas to keep growing this space, having fun, and doing cool stuff with our doggo best friends. One thing I want to start adding in here is random dog facts — little nuggets that help you understand your dog better. Random Dog Fact: Did you know dogs make eye contact with humans way more than they do with other dogs? 👀 That’s because eye contact with people is largely a learned behavior. Dogs learn that looking at us leads to good things — information, connection, praise, rewards. You can encourage this by marking and rewarding eye contact during training. Every look is a moment worth reinforcing. Question for you: Does your dog naturally check in and make eye contact with you — or is that something you’ve had to work on? 👀🐾

@Kenzie Carlson interesting, but he does have fantastic peripheral vision so he must be relying on that to watch his girl!

Really great training experience for her. I loved how calmly she was sitting with so much chaos going on around her — that’s not easy, and she handled it beautifully. Using leave it was spot on, the only thing I’d add is a little more positive reinforcement in moments like that — quick praise or a treat when she chooses to stay settled. That calm sit-stay in an environment like this is really hard for a dog so I would shower her with positive reinforcement for such a nice and relaxed sit and stay!!👏🐾

Awesome work. I really love that you noticed she was a bit distracted and that you’re already thinking in terms of focus, redirect, and leave it — that awareness is huge and exactly what great training and handling looks like!! She honestly did really well overall, especially given the environment. Stores are a lot, and toys are clearly a big distraction for her right now, so that just gives us good information to work with. My suggestion would be to start practicing this (toy squeaks) at home, where you can control the setup. Do your scent training or obedience work, and have a family member squeak toys in the background. You can also do short, focused sessions that are just about attention — marking and rewarding for eye contact and engagement while the distraction is happening. That kind of controlled exposure will really help desensitize her and teach her how to work through those moments instead of getting pulled off task. Overall, this is great training and great handling. You’re absolutely on the right track. Keep it up, and thanks so much for posting — these videos are really valuable to see!!
