Hawas Fire and Noya Abyssal Odyssey
Hawas is a fragrance that never held my attention. It's a series of atomic-strength clones. The first was similar to Invictus so I lost interest. And Fire? It's some weird amber aquatic with no spices? But I'll tell you what I love, the Noya Aqua line. These are a new line from an Italian niche house. Abyssal Odyssey is one of the easiest to wear. It's a refreshing aquatic patchouli with an amber base. It isn't too strong and the ingredient quality shines through as it ages on your skin. The Aquas are somewhat simplistic, but to their benefit. The price and availability is the only problem with getting a bottle. I was looking for similar scents and noticed everyone compared it to Hawas Fire. I tried to find a bottle of Fire at retail but they aren't showing up like the rest of the line in stores. I picked this one up at $33 to save myself $170. The fragrance is practically 1:1. The notes are even identical. The only reason this isn't common knowledge is that most people don't know what a Noya is. Hawas Fire is an amber aquatic. It opens with jasmine and mineral notes, clary sage, and ambroxan. That's about it, this is a linear fragrance. The mix of aquatic and amber has an odd fruity signature but I suspect this is a side effect of using calone for the seawater note. At the intensity of this fragrance the notes can bleed in strange ways. What I don't notice is any defined patchouli. I do notice that it projects like a liberal arts major. This fragrance is so intense I haven't bothered spraying it twice yet. The atomizer blasts this dense oil out and it's enough to make my head throb. I wish this was more subtle like the Noya. Longevity? About a day, projection is roughly one foyer. It's a good fragrance but off the beaten path for most people. If you like Hawas but want a richer version of it, try to find the Noya.

YVES SAINT LAURENT – LA NUIT DE L’HOMME EAU DE PARFUM (2026) 🌶️🖤 YSL is officially reworking a legend. The 2026 Eau de Parfum version of La Nuit de L’Homme takes the iconic DNA and sharpens it for a darker, bolder era. Released in 2026 by Yves Saint Laurent, this isn’t a replacement — it’s an evolution built for modern nights. 🌶️ Scent direction: This version leans more rugged, spicy, and masculine. The signature cardamom is still here, but now it’s intensified with a chili pepper kick, aromatic herbs, and deeper woods. Think mysterious, confident, and slightly dangerous — classic La Nuit energy with teeth. 🧪 Notes breakdown: Top: Chili Pepper, Cardamom Heart: Sage, Tonka Bean, Patchouli Base: Leather, Sandalwood 👃 How it smells / comparisons: This keeps the seductive backbone of the original La Nuit de L’Homme, but adds heat, leather, and texture. If the OG was smooth and romantic, this one is bolder and more assertive — less soft date-night whisper, more commanding nighttime presence. Not a clone of anything else on the market — it’s YSL tightening its own legacy. 🕰 Longevity & performance: Expect a noticeable upgrade here: 7–9 hours of wear with stronger projection than the EDTs of the past, especially in the first few hours. 🎯 Best occasions: • Date nights • Night outs / lounges • Fall & winter evenings • Anytime you want controlled dominance 💰 Expected price: Likely around $110–$140 USD, depending on size and retailer. 🏬 Availability: Major department stores, YSL boutiques, Sephora, and authorized online retailers. Final take: The 2026 La Nuit de L’Homme EDP is YSL reminding everyone why this line became iconic — darker, spicier, and more grown than ever. Classic La Nuit… or is this the best version yet? 👀🔥

SOTD: Wow! Edt by Joop! 04/02/2026
This has been on my wanted list for almost a year now. Yes I'm a big Joop fan and this is one of the few bottles I was missing from the collection. Wow represents a massive pivot for the brand. If you know Joop for the nuclear strength, pink, candy-sweet bomb that is Joop Homme, you will find Wow! to be a completely different animal. The bottle tells you everything you need to know before you even spray it. It resembles a vintage whiskey flask or an apothecary bottle, filled with amber liquid.Where the original Joop! Homme is a loud club scent, Wow! is a "jazz bar" scent. It is mature, boozy, warm, and sophisticated. Ironically, this is one of the most subtle, refined, and polite fragrances Joop! has ever released. It is classified as an Oriental Fougère, but it behaves like a woody-spicy fragrance with a distinct "boozy" character. It opens with a very brief splash of citrus (bergamot) that immediately gives way to a warm, spicy cardamom. The violet leaf adds a slight "airy" or ozone quality, which prevents the spice from feeling heavy or dusty. It smells expensive and niche-quality right from the first spray. This is the best part of the fragrance. The fir balsam creates a resinous, pine-like sweetness that mimics the scent of an oak barrel or aged whiskey. It’s not a literal alcohol smell, but it captures the warmth of a dark spirit. The vetiver adds a dry, earthy woodiness that keeps it masculine. As it settles on the skin, it becomes creamy and powdery. Cashmeran is a synthetic note that smells like musky wood and feels "velvety." The tonka and vanilla add sweetness, but it is a dark, roasted sweetness rather than a sugary candy sweetness. As an edt my only contention is the longevity which is moderate at best. Unlike the OG, you can expect 5 hrs at best with this. Projection is moderate to Intimate. It projects well for the first 30–60 minutes, then settles closer to the skin. It creates a polite "personal space" bubble rather than filling a room. Unlike other Joop! scents, you can wear this to work without choking out your colleagues, so it's completely office safe. Additionaly, I picked this up yesterday at the Chemist Warehouse for a measley €29. It smells significantly more expensive than it is. If you put this juice in a Tom Ford or YSL bottle, people would happily pay three times the price. It lacks the harsh, metallic "cheap cologne" smell found in many budget fragrances. The spicy/woody profile needs cool air to shine. Perfect for Date nights, semi-formal dinners, or office wear in the winter. Wow! is an underrated masterpiece of the budget category. If you want to smell classy, masculine, and warm without spending a fortune, this is a blind buy worthy of consideration.
