Hey everyone, just a quick beginner observation from yesterday's session. I chopped my mast from 85cm to 75cm length (Later to find out it's actually more like 78 when compared to an axis 75). I went for a short 1mile dw yesterday. The difference is humongous. I still cannot believe it . The board feels much more stable in wind chop. Before it was hard to manage and I was feeling at the mercy of the waves. Also the paddle up is waay easier. I got up on the first wave and rode it for 10-15 seconds, which for me was a first :) The run was short 2km (1 mile) and I successfully paddled onto two waves. I am super happy :) Also the foil felt faster than I anticipated but not that much :) Time to take it for a flatwater session and do a test there :D

This Sunday I went to the coast as they forecasted a nice Northerly 13-18 knots. I extended my baby run with the paddle to 4,5km as my more experienced friends suggested. Paddled out further than normal, about a kilometer from shore. I did some changes in my paddle up from last time. I paddled longer (extending further!) and started pumping with my legs more gradually. I Got up four times and actually rode and connected a couple of waves. I rode mostly backside bud turned also to frontside. Super stoked and happy. It feels like it is starting to come together. I need to hone my pumping as I am used to pump only with my pumpfoil board which is three times lighter :) Thanks for all the great advice! So stoked and can't wait to go again :D
New Content Coming
Hi everyone! I’m filming a new lesson right now and will be posting it shortly. Is there any specific topic you’d like me to cover? So far, I’ll be analyzing a pop ups and giving tips on how to pop up more efficiently, especially the importance of lunging forward. I’ll also share a drill that helps you stay high on the mast. The wind here on Oahu has abandoned us for nearly 2 months... But it seems to be picking up this weekend, and I can't wait to start filming more downwind runs for you all! Let me know what you’d like to see next 🤙🏼 Aloha, Edo

Can't wait! Thank you!!
Member Video Analysis #1
In this video I analyze this week’s member submissions and break down key areas for improvement. Topics include reaching further forward to increase stroke range, shortening paddle length to improve cadence and power, finding the optimal mast position on the board tracks, continuing to paddle longer through the pop up, and synchronizing paddling and pumping to maximize power and torque.

Been to the lake today and tried doing more with my lats. Also moved the mast back an inch but felt that I might be too much. I got up a couple of times but either stalled or couldn't push that little more to make the foil flow. The improvemet I made was that I started engaging the foil faster by "ollie-ing" the board with more precision. Good session, rain and 2degreesC 😅 Thank god for ny nice wetsuit 😁

Thanks Edo! Can't wait to go again !
Welcome!
How long have you been foiling for? What do you need most help with?

I started foiling two years ago, with the wing. I learned windsurfing as a kid, so winging felt natural. As I live inland Europe (2 hours from sea) I got a foil for pumping and I am learning that in parallel to everything else 😅. I do some flatwater sup practice and when I get some free time to go to the seaside I learn to freewing and downwind with the paddle. The paddle bit, which I enjoy most, is for me the hardest as I have no solid base in foiling :) As frustrating and hard as it is I come back and want more :D My main focus for now is getting as much foil time as possible, regardless if it is pump foiling, flatwater , winging or downwind floating ;) Just for entertainment I am sending a video of me the very first time pump foiling with my dw board :) Later I got a proper pump board..
What is your favorite foil and why?
Aloha team, I’ve been doing a lot of R&D with different foils lately, and realize the fastest foil is not necessarily everyone's first choice to ride downwind. I’m curious what you all think, what foil do you enjoy most for downwinding, and why? Is it glide, control, climb, low end - top end range, turning, or something else that makes it your favorite? Stoked to hear your thoughts :)

As I am a beginner, I am on a big Gong Sirus XL at 136cm wingspan, 1700cm2 area and 10,9AR. It is a foil for pumping, quite thick 0,9 inch and slow. I ride it for winging and pumping and sup foil (learning). We have mainly windswell (short fetch) with short period and steep faces. It is my only foil so I make it work in all situations from pumping to 30kn winging 😅
