Friday’s meeting to discuss the Domain Manager - Maritime role didn’t go in my favour. I do believe that the process has been very fair and the feedback and explanations I got align very much with my skills. As such I have been put forward for one last sub-contracting position with my current employer. If this doesnt not come through I will receive a paid redundancy as of Wednesday 2 Sept. This will give me 12 weeks pay and a payout of the remained of my leave balance. I will then be on the hunt for a new position. As such I have already applied for 4 roles over the past week and today gave my CV to a friend that I used to work for, he also runs his own small business (of 2 people) that provides Sub contractors as required. He has access to job offered I would not usually see. I have also put in an application for a role at the Museum of Australian Democracy today as the Manger of Facilities, a job I am very qualified for and looks to be something different, fun and new to me. I have no reason to believe I will be unemployed long as I am in the area that has a lot of roles for my skills, it is just unfortunate that the company I work for currently has lost out on work it previously held and therefore does not have the financial security it once did. (Remember, I only packed a single carry on😉) After a few ferry rides from Oban to the island of Iona we walked the Abby which is the venerated site of St Columba who brought the Christian faith from Ireland to Scotland in the 6th century. His bones were buried in a small wooden structure that was later rebuilt in stone that now is attached to the large Church structure. This small chapel is purported to be the first stone church in Scotland. On the ride back across Mull we stopped at a weaving shop. I was fascinated by the fact all wool colors were natural sheep colors and the only dyes used were flowered and root matter. This inner Hebrides owner explained to me the process of shrinking the wool then “shaving the wool. The difference between their tweeds and Harris Tweeds is 100% of her materials (sheep [see las pic with large grid pattern blanket] and flowers) came from the Isle of Mull (Harris Tweeds, while woven in the Outer Hebrides, are not natural dyes and the sheep can be outsourced from Australia and New Zealand).
