Author Launch Kit & Julie the Book Bot - OMG!
Houston, we have a problem. I just spent about 45 minutes in deep strategic mode discussing backend publishing of my book... and OMG!🤯 If you don't have the Author Launch Kit (ALK for the cool kids) or aren't using Julie the Book Bot (JB as I call her), you're missing out. AI has changed the game. Having "Julie" on my team has opened up possibilities of what is possible with the right resources. So, what have you asked Julie the Book Bot, and you were just blown away? Post it here so we can be inspired by your journey.

Is it worth doing at the start of nearer the end of your project?
ChatGPT
Hi, and thank you for letting me join you all. I have been thinking for a long time about writing a book but to be honest I haven’t actually read a full book cover to cover since primary school. There are reason for that. I decided last week it’s time and no time like the present. But every time I put time into using ChatGPT it’s crashing or has limitations and likes to make things up - it calls it drifting. I have set hard rules that can never change put time into learning how to use it but it’s not going to be my main vessel now. Going to look at Dibbly but I hear it’s not great for non-fiction as it likes to drift also. So thinking Scriviner alongside ChatGPT. Has anyone else used this combo? Thanks

@Steve Kitts I have found a way to make it do my bidding. I have used it for over a year for daily tasks and it didn’t matter if it forgot what I said. But this is me on a page not what it kept doing and “Drifting” I found set strick ground rules. Canon them before you start. GPT does not change these conons unless explicitly told otherwise. Then you save these rules by asking it to confirm them back verbatim. Copy and put off platform safe to save the need if repeating yourself. Once it has it, and your happy, ask something like “if I want you to follow these rules on every side line what would one text that in GPT speak for it to understand” . It will then give you a copy and paste you can take off platform/app and put in a cloud or storage. You test it straight away by going it and back in. Paste the GPT speak and get it to confirm the canon rules. If it’s not correct you tell it by posting both pastes into the chat word for word and it will then understand and may give you a corrected copy. Then if you stop and you can’t find the past 10 hours of verbatim you don’t need to start again later. Every time you change keep it simple. You can say to canon speed it reads back to you if you want to hear it. I run it at 50% but 80 is a good starting point. Every new part you need to take a copy off GPT. I create a pages doc on iOS. That’s the master copy. You are best just to paste everything in or upload the documents. You can get it to time stamp everything when you say canon. This is my work around for not being able to work or type all the time. A thumb and a tongue lol I worked in Tech for one of the largest companies in the UK. So once I knew the limitations I stopped tried to locate everything and set my rules. I couldn’t find anything that provided simple details so it took some time.

@Rob Cole hi there Rob I am not using AI generative content, I am using AI because I understands my accent better than others. I have a strong Glaswegian Scottish accent everything that I will be written will be verbatim.

Hi, I’m going to be putting me on paper as me my voice this will also help for audio books. I grew up under the breadline. I need my book to be about a 3 hour listen or read. It will be a page turner or something you listen to as you drive to a business meeting or on a jog. Not long winded not in someone else’s words or life. That is the bones of it. I have managed to get a lot out already. I’m treating this like I don’t have the time not to get my life in the hands of folk it may help. But it’s not about anyone else that’s a side effect.

@Cassie McCarthy Im a trauma sufferer. Just about to do my first book to just joined after you. I look forward to your book 👍
Should I do Audio on my books?
I have a lot of people who ask if my books are available to be listened to. Should I invest the time and money to make them into Audio books?

This was very helpful for me also as I believe we are missing the vast amount of readers if we don’t.
