My wife pissed me off a year ago…but it shifted things in my marriage
I want to share something personal. You’ll see a picture of meals I prepped for my family while I’m out of town. But this is bigger than food. A year ago, my wife said something that bothered me: that I didn’t help enough when I’m away. I took offense. But then, a mentor’s question hit me: “Do you want to be right, or get it right?” Instead of defending my view, I asked her what “help” looked like. She just needed meals ready. That shifted me—getting it right means stepping into her shoes. Now, I prep meals to be present, even in my absence. So, in your relationships, are you focused on being right, or getting it right? For all my married folks: Our first live Mischief & Marriage call is this Sunday, February 1st, at 7 PM EST (link to join is in the calendar). It’s a great chance to meet other couples, talk about how we grow our marriages, and go to the next level. Hope to see you there!

Getting it right is way better and easier than being right. As a very married man, it’s not often that I am right when I get called out by SWMBO. There are a few “victories” but they are hard fought battles because I don’t retain evidence 🤣. The other day, she was balancing the books, (bookkeeping is her strength, not mine!) She had a question (in an highly accusatory tone) about a $170 transaction that I could not recall. I insisted that I did not spend that money. I knew I was right, but I didn’t need to rub her face in it. I needed to get it right and be the man that God gave her. Before she went off to the bank to do battle and get to the bottom of the potentially fraudulent transaction, I Googled the description and discovered that it was indeed an authorized transaction that we agreed to. It cleared the bank in a way that she wasn’t aware of. She was satisfied and was thankful that she could stand down. I love that woman ♥️

Morning, Y’all! My name is Pete, I live in Edgewater, MD. I’m one of the leaders at Riva Trace Baptist Church. I’m retired from the automotive industry where I handled social media and email marketing for a couple of dealerships. Rousawn invited me to join so I figured I’d check in and see what he’s up to here. I like to figure things out, what makes the clock tick. Sometimes I’m bewildered, sometimes I master it.
