Relapsed because I got lazy
I started letting things slide . Because I thought oh it’s fine I can just carry on the way I am and I’ll manage to stay clean. Big mistake , I realise now recovery takes continuous work , and just because I got a mere 3 and a half weeks in , doesn’t mean I’ve cracked it: I new my thinking was getting bad because I started to negotiate . But temptation and romanticising the high got the better of me when actually there was more I could do to prevent a relapse , I just got complacent .

Let the small speed bump be a small speed bump. Big picture, 3+ weeks is huge! I’m proud of you. I’ve been there, too. In the past, being overconfident from being sober makes me think I can reward myself / handle using the substance just once and that’s never how it went. Keep us updated, I’m rooting for you.

Stress and cravings
I have been clean about 2 or 3 weeks now but my boyfriend went to a detox last night and it took a lot to get him to go and I feel pressure of trying to take care of everyone else that some days it crosses my mind to relapse and not care

You’ve got a great heart. Ultimately though, it’s got to come from inside of him to want to sober up, and sometimes that requires you to walk away and focus on your own sobriety in order for him to get to that realization. Sounds like you love him, but if taking care of him puts you at risk of relapse, and then you relapse, you won’t be able to Love anyone to your fullest capacity.

Proud of you! As someone who abused multiple substances for years, I just got off the last substance left haunting me yesterday. Seeing posts like yours gives me hope. Keep going!
