Hi everyone 👋 Thought I'd introduce myself and ask for a bit of advice from those of you who've been doing this longer than me. I'm Dave and I've had an Etsy shop for a few years now. I've sold various bits and pieces I've made over that time - 3D printed items, keyrings, magnets, slate coasters etc. Nothing massive, it's always just been a little side project alongside my normal job. Just over two weeks ago I decided to have a proper go at posters and prints using Print Shrimp. I've really enjoyed the designing side of it and originally set myself a goal of getting 50 designs listed by the end of September. I've already gone past that and I'm at around 60 now, so naturally I've moved the goalposts and I'm heading for 100 😂 The bit I'm unsure about is what to expect at the beginning. I'm not really seeing much traffic yet. Most days have been very quiet, although over the last few days I've started getting the odd view on the poster listings. Is that fairly normal when you've only been listing for a couple of weeks? Would those of you who've been successful with POD recommend just continuing to design and build the catalogue even when there isn't much happening yet? I'm happy to keep going and give it time, but obviously every new listing costs money, so there's always that little voice wondering whether I'm building something that just needs time or simply paying Etsy to host a very large collection of posters nobody wants 😂 I'd really appreciate any advice from people who've been through this stage. I'm also completely open to feedback on the shop, designs, mockups, pricing, SEO etc. if anyone fancies having a look. Constructive criticism is very welcome - I'm here to learn. This is not a direct PrintShrimp win.. but I just sold a slim canvas print.. I'm like ... woaahhh someone actually spent that much money on my enchanted mailroom lol I just put them there as an option and to pad out my shop never really expect to sell the expensive canvas items... Hello guys! Hope you are well and enjoying your poster selling journey. We have two big announcements today! First of all, we are now (finally) charging UK VAT. We should have done this a long time ago and have been absorbing the cost on our end - due to the nature of our business it took a long time to set up and we’ve actually been making a loss on UK orders xD VAT will be charged going forward on all UK print and framed print orders. However, subscription prices for our bulk listing software will STAY THE SAME! Whilst VAT will be charged, we will continue charging the same and essentially absorb the VAT. This does mean UK prices will increase by 20%. But don't panic, the expected profits we always refer to actually already includes 20% VAT being charged. So with our recommended pricing, you will still profit £24 for a 24x36" print and £60 for a 24x36" framed print! So don't panic about the increase, this still leaves you with plenty of room for profit, and we are still much more competitive than the competition, as they of course also have to charge VAT on top of the website prices they display :) HOWEVER, GOOD NEWS! To help soften the blow we are happy to announce a pretty major change, which is a discount on multi orders! Going forward, all print orders of 3+ prints will receive a 20% discount! This is for an order of 3 or more prints to the same customer. This can lead to a lot of extra profit in your guys pocket for bigger orders, and should make a really healthy difference to your take home figures. This is across ALL countries, not just the UK!
