Make Space For Rest 🫶✨
Sometimes the hardest part of practice is simply making the space for it. Even 10 minutes of rest can shift your whole nervous system. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t need silence, candles, or the “right” moment. All you need is a willingness to pause. This weekend, when will you create that space for yourself? Drop your time BELOW. Why Everyone Needs a Cat 😻
Today is Cat's birthday, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge this incredible woman. I truly would not be here without her. She is a soul mate in the truest sense. Before we met, we lived like ships in the night. Her name floating through circles of aviation and hospitality, but when she landed in my life… there was no turning back. Some of you may already know this story… but Cat and I officially became friends when I was diagnosed with cancer. She brought food to the hospital and my house. She started a meal train and messaged me every day while I was in treatment. In the middle of a health crisis, I didn’t imagine I’d be making new friends, but this acquaintance became my lifeline. Cat is nurturing. Endlessly loving. A natural at creating community and connection. I love her ability to whip up anything in the kitchen, and to this day, she still cooks for me... no matter where we are in life or in the world. In Yoga Nidra, Annamaya Kosha translates as the food body (the physical body), the part of us that needs nourishment and care. And that’s what Cat offers in every moment: Nourishment. Not just through meals, but through presence, humour, love, and the sacred art of showing up. Happy Birthday, my Cat. You are a gift. You always have been. I will be with her soon and have travelled over mountains to see her... My turn to prepare a meal for you. In full transparency, I'll be taking you for dinner @Cat Jones we both know that's for the best. 😂

🎨 Coloring Outside the Lines🎨
In my last Yoga Nidra, something new and kind of beautiful happened for me. As we moved into the Anamaya Kosha and the rotation of consciousness I started visualizing my body like a page I was slowly coloring in. ✍️ Without ever lifting the pencil, I just kept shading. Gently, completely, letting the color spill past the edges of my skin. I was aware that I was NOT staying within the 'lines' or feeling confined by the boundaries of my body. It reminded me of pratyahara—that moment in practice where the senses start turning inward---when the inward and outward blend together. During rotation of consciousness, we usually think of attention jumping from one point to another--elbow, wrist, little finger… But this time, it felt like I was slowly filling myself in with awareness. Shading in every part. Messy, playful and FUN! I know we've touched on this before as a community, but since our practice is ever-evolving, I would love to know: 🌀How do you visualize the body during rotation of consciousness? 🌀What does pratyahara feel like to you---if you've ever felt it? 🌀Would love to hear what comes up. @Cat Jones this sounds a delicious experience (I know experiences aren't inherently "good" or "bad", they are just "states of awareness"...but it does sound delightful. These days, I mainly listen to yoga nidra as a way to help me drift off to sleep, so, truth be told, by the time rotation of consciousness comes around, I am usually nodding off and only vaguely aware of the guides voice!
Body-Doubling
Good time zone everyone! I am a little curious if anyone here is familiar with the concept of body-doubling. It is commonly attributed with ADHD, as a method of encouraging/motivating someone to get the thing done! I've been struggling to do my Yoga Nidra sessions. Including just passing out instead of being mindful and setting up the session. For context: I have complex sleep apnea and when I sleep without my mask, it actually does more harm then good and I wake up feeling downtrodden. Has anyone here ever considered doing body-doubling with a community member to motivate them to do it as well? I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts.

Love body doubling! In fact YEARS ago when I first learnt how to meditate, this was pre-mobile phones days, early 1990s, my meditation buddy would call me on the house land-line at 5.30am and (I had to be up to rush downstairs to answer the phone to avoid waking the house hold) we would check in with each other, meditate and take it turns to call and report back. Wasn't called Body Doubling then. Nowadays, I use Focus Mate to body double while do work tasks, or will body double, for 5 to 25 mins, with one of my daughters if we have house related or life admin tasks to do. The presence, virtual or in person makes a huge difference. Am in UK time zone
