You still get the warm kitchen, the delicious smell, and something to share. Three little things to learn: • Check the label: You want pie filling, which is already prepared—not plain canned fruit. • Read before you start: Check the crust and filling instructions so you know whether you need a top crust and how long to bake. • Let it cool: Cooling helps the filling set so your pie is easier to slice. Let little hands help: Kids can choose the filling, help spoon it into the crust, or set out plates. I raised two children while earning two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree, built a successful career in sports medicine, became a bestselling author…and then Multiple Sclerosis changed the life I had worked so hard to build. Turns out, some of the biggest lessons weren’t in escaping where I came from. They were in understanding what it taught me.
