December’s new content
Hi everyone. December’s new content is LIVE, and I’m genuinely excited for you to dive into it. A few dishes you absolutely need to try: Roasted Butternut Squash with Maple Thyme Filling. This one is seriously delicious, so consider this your warning 🤩 I’m adding it to our family’s Christmas Eve salmon meal because it’s that good. Miso Maple Carrots. These are making an appearance at our Christmas Day dinner. Sticky, glossy, salty-sweet… they’re everything a good side dish should be. Brussels + Apple Slaw. Don’t even get me started. Perfect with leftover turkey, and YES, it has prosciutto. The sweet–salty combo is unreal. The theme this month has been more around sweet/salty combos! I’ve also added a mix of appetisers, sides, and comforting dishes this month because, let’s be honest… it’s December. 🌟 Holidays are part of life. 🌟 Food is part of life. 🌟 And I want us all to head into the season without that old restriction mindset. We’re not trying to “be good.” We’re trying to live our lives, enjoy the celebrations, and feel supported while doing it. These recipes give you variety, satisfaction, and options, not rules. And don’t forget to check out the new Guide to Surviving Christmas. The holidays tend to crank up the “food noise,” and this guide will help you stay grounded while still enjoying what’s around you. Have a look at everything new and tell me what you’re going to make first. I love hearing what you’re cooking!

Box Breathing (4,4,4,4)
A simple breathing tool that I use every day and talk about a lot... I finally found a video that shows box breathing with hands on the ribs, exactly how I teach it. If you’re a chest breather (I was too), this might feel awkward at first, but it’s one of the most effective tools you can use in midlife. I use this when I feel anxious, before stressful events (like public speaking), before eating out (great for digestion and slowing down eating), and even in the middle of the night if I wake up. It helps switch the body into the parasympathetic “rest and digest” state, calming the heart rate and slowing everything down. Watch the video, practise in front of a mirror, and give yourself time to get the hang of it. It’s worth it. I’ll add this to the Classroom section as a resource too. 100% this is a life changer!!! I was having a very stressful day a few days ago and my heart was having some flutters. I did the Box Breathing and it settled me right down. Flutters disappeared and I was able to think more clearly!! Vivienne has told me about this breathing method before eating and it really did help with digestion!! I realized that on a regular basis I am an abdominal breather, but in times of stress I become a chest breather!!

Throw together dinner or lunch ideas with rotisserie chicken or tuna!! How many beans could I add or lentils? What is a good carb choice? How do I make it satiating and tasty oh and low in saturated fat!! Oh and let’s not forget a tasty nutritious dressing or sauce for the final touch 😜
