Career
In recent weeks I have been seriously considering pursuing a career in the electrical trades, because college just isn’t doing much for me and I would like a steady career to (hopefully) support a future marriage someday. I have applied to some local companies for an apprenticeship, and I’m waiting to hear back. Prayers would be much appreciated, as this is a huge leap forward for me personally—I have no experience or knowledge whatsoever in any trade. God bless.

Hey, Aaron ... got a grin reading your goals to advance in the trades. My father was an electrician and eventually had his own commercial company. We joke now that he retired that he missed the window. NOW is clearly the highest point of opportunity and pay for a young man to enter the trades. Electrical, Plumbing and Welding seem to round out the top. Here's an example of scholarships that you might look into as well for trade school: https://mikerowe.com/2025/03/2-5-million-in-trade-school-scholarships/ Feel free to DM if you ever want to chat through your goals. Cheers and Godspeed! Mike
Crush Cravings Without Fasting
Alright bro, let's talk cravings. They're not just annoying—they're tests. You want strength and self-control? Time to face those desires without always resorting to fasting. 1. **Fill Up Right**: Start by keeping yourself full of the good stuff. Not just spiritually but physically too. Proper nutrition is key. Protein, fiber, and fats in your meals will keep hunger—and those random cravings—at bay. This is why monks have strong discipline. They eat wisely 🥩 2. **Stay Busy**: An idle mind’s a devil’s playground, right? You'll find yourself thinking about donuts or pizza if you’re bored. Bring some structure into your day. Work out, plan your day, study the Word. Distraction isn't always bad if it steers you from sin. 3. **Mind Over Matter**: Cravings are psychological too. Recognize them for what they are. Acknowledge them, then let them go. It’s like resisting sin, bro. James 4:7 says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Same with cravings. 4. **Pray and Offer Up**: Ever thought about offering up your cravings as a sacrifice? Unite them with Christ’s sacrifices. Little challenges form big virtues. Saint Josemaria would back me up on this one. You won’t break those cravings in a day. It’s a battle…but one you can win with faith and strategy. Hope this helps. God bless✝️

Great notes on dealing with cravings, Pedro! Especially as many of us work from home. Even more so as I travel for business often - making conscious choices for clean food or self-discipline when so much processed food is at hand. Good masculine challenge to mind over matter, prayer and offering up!

Hey guys, my name is Michael and I'm here to improve my fitness journey. I've already lost 12 pounds (195 down to 183 at 5 ft 6) and have started some basic weight lifting however, I am using slightly stern methods. I am only eating 1500 calories a day, not allowing my self to ever drink soda, walking a minimum of 12,000 steps a day and I'm only allowed to eat out if it's with friends or family, which in practice has been when I go out with friends from church. Yet even now as I type this I really want some in and out. In other words I'm here because my efforts are worthless unless I figure out how to make fitness a permanent lifestyle. Also before accepting Christ (I was only baptized/confirmed this Easter Vigil) I was a complete gooner whom ate fast food every day and drank almost a liter of soda a day. Here's a goofy photo of me trying to pose like Mario XD
