SHIELDWALL CHECK-IN
How is everyone getting on? Whether you’ve had a brilliant week, struggled to get going, or landed somewhere in between, drop a quick update below. What have you completed this week, and what are you aiming to get done next? No need to write an essay. Even if all you’ve managed is one workout or one decent walk, put it down. Progress counts, but honesty and consistency matter. Let’s hear where everyone’s at. 👊

@Mark Scaife That’s a massive win mate. Two pull-ups might not sound like much to someone who’s always been able to do them, but going from zero to two is real progress. That means the work is paying off. Don’t rush it now, own those two, keep building the strength, and three will come. Then five. Then ten. 💪

@Rob Williams I agree on full range, mate, although I wouldn’t say chest-to-bar is essential. Full extension at the bottom and the chin clearly over the bar at the top is a legitimate strict pull-up. Chest-to-bar is a tougher progression in its own right. But your main point stands, clean reps beat inflated numbers every time. 👊

@Ross Skinner good stuff, and don't forget to post your wins/losses. That helps everyone. 🛡

@Jack Bennett Welcome mate 👊 You’ve already got the important bit, you know how much better you feel when you’re training, and you’ve got a proper reason to get back there. Don’t worry about trying to become the old version of you overnight. Start the 12-week programme, get some consistency back, tighten the food up and let the motivation come after the routine starts working. Getting yourself ready for the RM Reserves is a cracking target as well. Keep us updated in here with how you’re getting on. 💪
Don’t Sit in the Shadows.
Lads, we’ve been going a few months now and it’s been fucking brilliant seeing more and more of you coming forward, posting in the group, sharing your progress and getting involved, that helps Shieldwall progress as a community. That’s exactly what I want ShieldWall to become, a group where blokes actually talk to each other, help each other and hold each other accountable. But I also know there are a few of you who prefer to sit back in the shadows a little bit. That’s absolutely fine. Doing the work is the most important thing. You don’t have to post publicly if you don’t want to. If you’re struggling with something, your training isn’t going to plan, you’ve fallen off the wagon, or you’ve simply got a question you don’t want to put in front of everyone else, message me privately. That’s what I’m here for. I’d rather you send me a private message and we sort the problem than sit there struggling on your own because you don’t want to post it publicly. Public or private, use the group. Use my knowledge. Get what you need from ShieldWall. We’re all here to move forward.

@Adam Finch Cheers Adam 👊 That’s exactly what I want ShieldWall to be. Standards and accountability, but nobody gets left behind just because they’re quieter or don’t want to put everything out publicly.
100 IS JUST THE START.
We’re almost at our first 100 ShieldWall members. And the best part is, this is starting to feel less like my project and more like our community. There are men in here at completely different stages, some getting back into training, some already smashing it, some trying to sort their head out, some simply trying to build a bit of discipline back into their life. That’s exactly what I wanted. No bullshit perfection. Just men trying to move forward. So as we head towards 100, I want to hear from you: What’s one thing you want to have changed in your life by the end of the next 12 weeks? Fitness, weight, sleep, mindset, discipline — whatever it is. Stick it below. 👇 Let’s see what the first 100 can build. 🛡️

@Jonathan Wheeler That’s a proper win, mate. 4.5kg down is brilliant, but getting that pull back towards training with other people could be even bigger. Group sport and having a few decent blokes around you makes showing up so much easier. Half a kilo down in week one as well, keep stacking the small wins. 👊🛡️

@Mark Scaife That’s exactly it, Mark. Starting is easy, staying consistent when life gets busy is the real test. And you’re right, looking after yourself has to be a priority. If you’re running on empty, you’ve got nothing left for anyone else. Don’t chase perfect. Keep turning up, even on the messy weeks. Consistency beats intensity. 👊🛡️

@Adam Finch That’s a cracking bit of history. I knew about Kitchener from the famous recruiting poster, but I had no idea the city was originally called Berlin or that it was renamed during WW1. And the Oktoberfest connection is brilliant as well, that German heritage obviously never completely disappeared 😂🍺 This is exactly the sort of stuff I was hoping would come out of this thread.
