Cold Weather rides
Given that I spend a fair portion of the year on studded tyres and in sub zero temperatures, I thought I’d start a little thread on people’s favourite tips and tricks for cold weather rides. Here’s a few of my favourite things: Barmitts - neoprene sleeves to go over your handlebars to keep your hands warm. I only need thin gloves inside these unless it gets down to about -10 as it did this morning; neoprene overshoes and winter boots (I even have some heated insoles for heavy subzero days; clothing wise I’ve found that the availability of clothing using polartec has been a game changer in terms of warmth. Feel free to post any tips, ideas or ask any questions.

Any overshoes you recommend? Unfortunately while its cold here Barmits are usually the domain of Uber delivery drivers. So its gloves and unfortunately bought loads but most aren't great beyond a couple of hours around 0c. So currently expirementing with thin liners then surgical gloves with cold weather gloves on top. This has helped last few rides. Hands and feet don't like the cold much!🄶
Tech Thursday - Gear Ratios
We had some discussions about gear ratios the other day and I wanted to know what you guys are running? If you can briefly mention whether it’s a road/gravel/mtb, type of terrain, if you are racing and so on. Just to give a little bit of context. Eg. If somebody lives on the flats and races crits then a 1 x road groupset makes perfect sense for them but I don’t want somebody living in the mountains to think that they should copy your setup šŸ˜† For me I built a road bike up with Shimano 52 x 36 front chainring but using a 10 x 36 sram casette (works fine but wouldn’t race it). Living in girona so I’ve a big gear for the fast downhills but a pretty easy one for long, hard climbs too. If I was racing I’d want a 54 front chainring but not racing these days. Also thinking of selling my road bike and buying a gravel frame with a 46 chainring and getting the sram Xplr 10x46 and swap in and out a set of road and gravel wheels. Road would be my priority so it would be a slightly bigger gear for the gravel riding but I think it would be fine. Was thinking of getting a set of 47-50mm tyres for the gravel wheels. Again I’m not currently racing so for the time being it could be a fine option. A slow, durable tyre would be fine - couldn’t be bothered with a set of fast tyres that punctures all the time and using tonnes of plugs. Those new recyclable vittoria tyres are cool but no idea what they are like - would rather go for vittorias to support EF with caoimhe but open to suggestions on all this šŸ™ I’d like to start creating more posts where everybody can jump in and add their thoughts and opinions. Would be cool to see more people getting involved in these discussions!

On my Specialized Crux I have a 1 x 10/52 AXS .I also have the same on my Diverge. The Diverge is Force and Crux Rival but both work equally well. I feel the gear range covers most situations occasionally I run out (tailwind/ downhill)šŸ˜‚ and may change to a 42 on the Crux course dependant. As you mentioned tyres I run Pirelli 45mm Gravel RC running tubeless great tyre. Fast and tough
Rider Support Playback
Does anyone else have trouble getting the rider support videos to play? I consistently have trouble on my phone. Wasn’t a problem previously when they were on YouTube. Just wondering if anyone had a fix!

Bling Matthews Podcast is Live
I'd a chance to sit down face to face with bling in Monaco. One of my favourite podcast conversations. This was the type of conversation i dreamt about when I started the podcast. Feels a little surreal to see it coming into reality. Hope you enjoy it šŸ™

@Sarah Egan This is not just cycling as someone who's been on the corporate treadmill. You work harder and longer hours believing this good for everyone. šŸ¤”
