Now back from my long run, showered and resting. 17 easy paced miles to the beach and back. Average HR at 125. 560 ft elevation (spiked my HR to the 160s). My longest in several years βΊοΈ. Hope to trim down from here.
I've been working on HR training for a while. I had to make an effort to have HR stay low for well over a year. What really helped me, oddly enough, was higher HR , but shorter distance tempo runs and cross training with tennis (short, fast sprinting to the ball). Those felt hard to do but... when I went to my easy long runs, the HR became more consistently low. It still varied some, but it was easier to bring it back down.
