Are Dictators really so bad?
I recently had the chance to ask Ryan Holiday why he keeps talking about Julius Caesar as if he was a tyrant. This is a man who built roads and monuments, brought immense wealth into Rome, and upon his death, willed 300 sesterces ($3200USD) to each Roman citizen. Ryan said that it's because he was a populist and a demagogue, and he was doing these things for the people, but it was really in his own interests. I guess my thought on that is: "and?" Like if you are a narcissist and you do all these nice things for the people in order to be loved, obviously it's not ideal, but I imagine it's better than not helping at all? At least everyone is all aligned. I'd rather a narcissist who for their own ego, will actually try to benefit whatever state / country, than a non-narcissist who is just a puppet to who knows who. This is a hypothetical but I imagine there aren't many non-narcissists in power. What do you think?

I believe that narcissism exists on a spectrum, and the real issue isn't just about being narcissistic or not. It's about how many people you harm or help in pursuit of your ideal of 'goodness'. I understand that concepts of good and bad are subjective and depend on many variables. However, there are universal laws in this universe, one being that harming, especially those who cannot protect themselves, is not an act of kindness. In my country, some people consider Pablo Escobar a good person because he provided houses, hospitals, and schools. But we must ask: what was the source of his wealth? He accumulated his resources through drug trafficking, a business that destroys the brains and lives of its consumers. He was also responsible for assassinations, among other crimes. It's crucial to stop romanticizing actions that are disguised as kindness when, in reality, they cause more harm than good. This approach often involves deciding who is worthy of help and who is not. This is why I disagree with certain initiation groups that claim to possess all knowledge or power to change the world. They decide who deserves to have or not have, to belong or not. From my perspective, actions based on ego or selfishness, aimed at showing off one's superiority through material contributions like money, houses, or buildings, do not constitute real acts of kindness. I dream of a world where people act not to showcase their greatness but out of genuine love for others, creating better things from the heart.
Death
What is your favorite philosophic quote on Death?

@Julian Suarez No no no , Julian, don’t think like that. I might be naive, but I don't share your viewpoint. I've been reading a book which suggests that 'life is a game, so don't take it too seriously, except for your own progress'(Fresia Castro). From my perspective, the inevitability of death serves as a reminder to enjoy life. Nothing that is fun should be taken too seriously. I assure you, if you start seeing life as a game, it will feel less burdensome. Regardless of the circumstances, you'll come to appreciate life as a precious gift. Like any game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and that's perfectly okay. It's all part of the game's nature.😬.

@Julian Suarez , I'm sorry I made a mistake with the phrase 🀣, the correct phrase is "life is a game, don't take it seriously , except for your own advance, and that is learning to create with love" ( Fresia Castro).πŸ™ˆ
"Validation" Practical Philosophy Summary - November 7th, 2023
Here's a summary of our Practical Philosophy summary on Validation. Not sure what everyone else ended up with but here's a few points that we touched on.

I would like to discuss another aspect of validation, one that personally makes me feel frustrated. Some philosophies, including mindfulness, personal coaching, and even Stoicism, emphasize being authentic, showing your true self, and loving yourself. They encourage people to present their 'better or real version'. However, there are individuals, those who differ from societal norms, who find this challenging. Despite not doing anything wrong legally, physically, or spiritually, they are often shunned due to others' fear of the unknown, rumors, or simply because they appear or think differently. In my view, it's essential for everyone to start accepting others as they are, without judgment, and to work towards creating a more compassionate society. In such a society, each person can be open and vulnerable without fear of being judged, rejected or discarded for their personal style, life philosophy, or past.

@Jeff Marr Hello Jeff, I hope you are well. I'm sending you a big hug πŸ€—. From my perspective, all the current standards in society may appear to be correct or conducive to a healthy and happy society most of the time, but that's not necessarily the case. These standards have been created by entities such as the government, fashion companies, education, and so on. However, they lack a solid foundation and often result in frustration because they are frequently unrealistic. I've been thinking that it might be much better for individuals to try to conceive new ideas for creating a new kind of society. We can start with small groups where the underlying principles are different. For instance, imagine a society where everyone can be vulnerable, accepted, and loved for who they are. This could be a promising beginning. Additionally, in such a society, people wouldn't be judged for their past but rather for the positive contributions they can offer in the present. This, too, could be a positive step forward

@Mar Tripaldi I completely agree with you; the meaning of life is simple: it's love. Love yourself, love others, love humanity, and love the environment to create a better tomorrow for everyone. I know this sounds like an answer from a beauty contest, but after reading and meditating extensively on this topic, I've realized that complex concepts aren't necessary. We just need to understand that falling in love is all we need to grasp the true meaning of life.
This Affects IQ But No One Wants To Talk About It
@Polina Amaya , @Karine Velosa this is what we were talking about at the Intuition discussion. I think it was that one. Anyway it's finally out, hopefully I worded it in a way that makes it not offensive. what do you think?

@Jeff Marr What history? I don't remember that history... You are in Mexico; it is so nice. Maybe you can connect with indigenous people. I was reading about how they understand the language that doesn't have words; they know about that. I want to connect with that information; maybe one day you can do it. You would love it..... Enjoy your travel.😌

@Jeff Marr Thank you for reminding me of this story, but the first time I read it, I didn't like it. Maybe it was because my interpretation wasn't the best, or I couldn't find the real message. I was thinking... 'Why does the fisherman feel happy to have the same life all the time and avoid the pleasure of having different experiences?' If you are living in a place where all desires and necessities are satisfied, vitality and the desire for life start to disappear. This leads to stagnation and monotony, which doesn't help with creativity in creating an interesting life. From my perspective, it is through obstacles that we find the purpose of life, and you can find happiness in your capacity to face and overcome each challenge in life. I would like to share my favorite song with you; it talks about this topic and says... 'Traveler, your footprints are the only road, nothing else. Traveler, there is no road; you make your own path as you walk.' The goal is not the purpose; you can find the purpose along the way as you develop all your potential, but you can only find it through the obstacles you face. Here is the link to the song. It is in Spanish, but I found the lyrics in English. I hope you like it. For me, it's poetry turned into a song.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xCCfFvRkQlg&pp=ygUhY2FtaW5hbnRlIG5vIGhheSBjYW1pbm8gZW4gaW5nbGVz
