Hi guys! I have this client that's been inactive since January this year, but he never ended our contract. Instead, he was online last week and he paused and restarted my contract. I asked him if he still needs my service but hasn't replied yet. My concern is, will that active contract but no earnings and delivering works will affect my profile? I'm having a hard time finding new clients right now and I was wondering if that inactive contract affects me. Thanks for kindly responding.

Hello everyone, I just upgraded my Upwork membership plan to premium, and I also bought connects. After that I tried to get my identity verified. My attempt at getting id verified failed a few times. After trying over and over Again I received email from Upwork stating that my ID is under manual review which might take 48-96 hours. Meanwhile, when I scroll through jobs, the "apply now" Button is disabled and the reason it gives is "you can not apply to the job because your account is suspended" Also guide me on how I can win a job as my account is newly made and has no reviews on it. Kindly help me out on how to get this issue resolved.

This might sound like a dark post, but I think it is helpful to know what skills to invest time in and which are simply not worth it anymore in 2025/2026. I got inspired to do this post because I used to do a lot of projects on Upwork in the translation niche a few years ago, took a break of about 6 months and when I came back it was impossible to land new projects. And mind you, I didn't have a new profile - I had $20k earned and multiple 5-star reviews. But still, it was impossible for me to land new translation work there, so after 3 months I gave on Upwork for that niche. Did anyone here have similar experiences with other niches, that are simply not worth it anymore on Upwork? Curious to hear!
