Video Introduction tips for a non English native speaker
Hey everyone! I just joined you in this great group, I hope to improve myself with the community and Nico's content! Anyways, my first question is, how I can do a video introduction as a non English native speaker? Actually at the moment, I can write and read English almost perfect, but speaking it, communicating, not yet, any tips how I can make a good professional video introduction? Thanks!

Hi @Hamza Benelamin, if you don't feel comfortable speaking in English in front of a camera you can skip the intro video since it will do more harm than good.

@Hamza Benelamin Oh got it, well, practice makes perfect they say. Try speaking out loud as much as possible and you'll start to feel more comfortable each time.
Help request: I have a client management issue.
Hello everyone, I need help with a client management issue. This client initially posted a job for creating a cold email outreach system. During our first call, he gave a lengthy presentation filled with company information that wasn't particularly relevant. He then requested an audit of procedures and asked us to build a LinkedIn outreach system. I told him that after these two initial activities, we would conclude the work and agree on a retainer arrangement. Now he's asked us to stop the scraping activities and requested optimization of a Make.com workflow for a Google Ads campaign. I have the impression this client lacks direction. Currently, he's paying $30/hour on Upwork and everything seems to be going smoothly, but I'd like to restructure the agreement with clearer terms and at a more advantageous rate. Since the initial arrangement was that we would shift to a retainer after the first phase, I reminded him of this. He replied that he doesn't have enough work for a retainer. At this point, I would like to terminate the contract with him, but I don't know the best approach for keeping my profile and metrics in good standing and how to do it. What do you recommend I do? Thank you!

Hey @Nicola C. are there any additional tasks that you have to deliver? If not, you can politely tell them that you delivered everything they asked for and ask them to finish the contract and leave a 5-star review. If they say that they have more work for you, you can tell them that you worked with them for $30/hour based on the assumption that you'll transition to a recurrent fixed-rate, but that if they want you to perform singles tasks your rates are $X/hour (make them your real hourly rate or even a more expensive one), if they agree then you'll earn more doing small tasks, if it doesn't then you can ask them to finish the contract and leave a good review.

@Nicola C. Well, if the client is satisfied with the work you did, you should ask them to end the contract, that way you get a 5-star review. If the client is not happy, then you can end the contract and hope for the best.

The reason I joined this community is because I want to learn more from experienced people around here. I believe that people on this group are goal-oriented and successful people and I hope to learn from you all. Outside of Upwork I like to do these things for fun: 1: Have meaningful conversations with people 2: Sleep and binge watch movies 3: Read novels sometimes Thank you and see you around!

I need ideas and advice to improve my proposal views
Hi folks, I am sure there is an art and science for creating a killer targeted proposal. But my challenge is to get my proposal viewed in the first place! Below are what I consider the factors that I think determine whether client views my proposal or not: Price - Major factor, I try to find the "sweet point" between my worth and the market. Location - I am based in South Africa, and I understand US clients want a freelancer as close to them as possible. Timing - I call it the "golden hour". I secured many contracts because I responded quickly using the RSS feed (Which has been removed). Other factors include: Job Success: I try to stay at 100% Total Jobs and Hours: My experience may influence the proposal viewing decision. Rating: I try to keep it "Top Rated" Earnings: Not very high at the moment, working on it. Boosted: I am not sure if this affects the clients decision to view my proposal. Bidding: An extra cost to submit a proposal, If I have the connects I bid high. Availability badge: I have not really used this, not sure of its weight in the client decision to view. Boost your profile: ditto It takes money (connects) to make money. I have no problem with that. Upwork is a mature, professional and reliable platform. I just need advice on how to get my proposal viewed, and spend my connects wisely. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Hi @Andre de Beer, have you checked our classroom section
Please help
I didn't agree with a client on a his project, but the problem I have already accepted his offer now I'm worried about he leaving me a bad review should I end the contract before the client ends it or not
