The Mystery Yokealong is back!
Our Mystery KAL is officially back for year three! We’re knitting a top-down round yoke sweater (or a steeked cardigan) together over seven weekly clues, kicking off on January 16th. This year, we’re leaning into stash-busting, so feel free to start hunting through your yarn collection now. You can get all the details on the Ravelry pattern page or here on Skool in the dedicated Classroom where I’ll also be posting all the relevant video tutorials as clues become available. We’d love for you to jump in and share your yarn picks, questions, and progress photos. Just use the "MYAL 2026" category for your posts. Heads up: we aren’t doing spoiler alerts this time, so feel free to post away in whatever way you like just as long as it is in that category! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with this year.

I think I've settled here. This vintage black alpaca is the blackest yarn I've ever seen. Kind of thrilling! 😃 That's color A. Color B is the rusty oranges and color C will then be the aquas and light greens. Yeah?

@Lisa Stolper I'll opine...I love the black and white one best but would love to see some of your blue worked into it, instead of the variegated I think. The gray is lovely too and so different, you could do both of them and have completely different sweaters!
Colorwork tension
I'm excited to start MYAL this year but colorwork scares me. I've tried two hand knitting - work looks pretty but doesn't stretch. I've also tried holding the yarn on one finger (continental), then it works unless I have to trap yarn, so it becomes messy. I'm quite a tight knitter so it's a nightmare that it's not working for me. I've frogged more colorwork than knitted. When I try to knit loose, the stitches are too long and floats still short. I've added a photo to show of one color vs two colors when knitting loosely on multiple colors. What am I doing wrong and which technique should I try for tight knitting? Help a girl out 🙏

I also have all of the same issues as you. I did what Zanete suggested, too. (continental + p/u the right yarn as needed, and spreading out the right-hand stitches regularly). Eventually I got to where I could hold the yarn continuously in my right hand and sort of flick. I'm working on an all-over colorwork Norwegian Kofte at the moment and one day I looked down and realized everything looked great, even a few inches back! It was just the practice and getting it into my muscle memory and low and behold, I'm actually enjoying stranded colorwork without the struggle. Hang in there, it will come.
Print or On Screen
Excited to be part of my first mystery KAL but not sure the best way to view the Rujuu pattern when it starts? What do others do? I use Knit Companion usually rather than printing - will this work? Can you add extra pages to a project as the clues come in?

@Coranne Hodgkinson Hi Coranne, would you share where you found your favorite tutorials please? I like KC, too, but know I have only scratched the surface of its capabilities. One of my 2026 goals is to make a deep dive into it. Thanks!
