@Ronda Del Boccio thankyou for allowing me to share! I hear there are a lot of crafties in the group. My mother and I made 10 'Mummy Hug Rugs' between us leading up to mid-December. And we have four to go - two each. The name came about after I taught my mother the stitch pattern for the rug, and she decided she wanted to make us all a rug 'to remember her by'! (I kid you not, this was her reasoning ๐ฅฐ) She said that when we wrapped ourselves in the rug, we would be getting a hug from her. I said, "So, they're Mummy Hug Rugs," and the name stuck. It was hard to crochet in the heat with the blanket on top of us, being summer in Oz. We made use of lounges, lounge chair arms, and tables set up next to us to take most of the weight, and heat. And airconditioning came in very handy (when I could convince Mum to turn it on before I melted) to allow the wool to slide between my fingers, which it doesn't do when your hands are sweating! ๐ Our deadline was an early Christmas, as the family was having a surprise birthday/christmas celebration for Mum's 80th. Being a surprise, Mum DIDN'T KNOW that she had to have the rugs done early, as everyone was turning up from all over the country to surprise her. I had to get very creative with my reasons for pushing to get the blankets done ahead of time. Below are three of the five blankets that I've made. They're approximately a 1.5 metre square-ish (which is nearly 5 foot) except for Murphy Storm's which is 1 metre square. The first one was for my new granddaughter - Murphy Storm The second one was for my penfriend in Switzerland - Claudia (who is using it every day at the moment! ๐) The third one was for one of my sisters - Stacy The crochet is Tunisian entrelac
