Day 2 The Where of it All
Where we meditate is just as important as why we meditate. Now, most would assume that we should meditate in places that embody the destination or goal of where we want to go. Most picture a serene river side, a beautiful mountain scape, or a yoga studio. The truth is, these places are all external to the internal beauty we seek. Let me expand. The goal is a serene, calm, and peaceful inner landscape. The home we live in, our entire life. Our meditation practice is a visit to the inside of the home. Just like a home, inside we may find clutter, we may find chaos, or maybe we find a place of tranquility. So how do we change the where of our practice? Today, I invite you to take yourself to a place of more peace. This can mean, imagining a place where you feel the most amount of calm, like the mountain top. Or, picture, sitting at the end of your dock at your cabin. Or, sitting by your favorite view on your daily walk. Or, maybe it’s a specific location you visited on a vacation. Wherever it is, take yourself there. By doing so, we will remind ourselves that, no matter where we practice, we can always return to the calm inner landscape. In fact, I would encourage we take this practice into the external environments that would normally be more challenging to meditate. Let me know, where you go, Daniel.

Yesterday, I was able to take time to join a test run of a new yoga class for individuals with disabilities. A friend is starting a new class and wanted some feedback-It was interesting to see a different way to achieve the same goal. I did find I was able to sit with a clear mind and follow easily. I’m learning to calm my thoughts and focus on the now.
Day 1 The “Why” (5 minute practice)
Good morning, and Happy Monday. As we begin our 30 day challenge, I want to shed a little more light on the daily posts you can expect here. Each day will have either question prompts, examples of new meditation techniques, or examples of others whom have traveled the path before us. These daily posts are ment to be engaged with, and explored through your own experience. We can celebrate, support, and encourage one another here. And so, let’s begin with a question, Why my friends? Why are we taking time to stretch our bodies? Why are we altering our breath, changing the balance of energies? Why are we sitting with our selves in a place where the mind makes every effort to distract us? I want us to ask ourselves every day before our practice, “why am I meditating today?” If you feel called, write your answer in a journal or record your answer on your phone. I want us to watch as the weeks progress, how the answers change. So, why are You, meditating today? Quote of the day: “The more regularly and the more deeply you meditate, the sooner you will find yourself acting always from a center of peace” -J. Donald Walters See you on the mat, Daniel

I want to try calming & slowing my world down- I am used to go fast, be loud and get things done. I find it very hard to slow down- I’m learning!

Your body and mind have released the overwhelming tension, and now you are firmly planted in a state of Zen. Sounds great, right? But Dan, where do I begin? I can’t sit still for more than a couple minutes, never mind the idea of trying to clear my brain of its constant dialogue of thoughts. Don’t worry, like any other skill in life, this one just takes a little practice. And what better way to commit, than to join a community of people all working on the same goal.
