Travel VA
Hi everyone, following on from my introduction post last week, and speaking with Erin, I am Leaning on deciding to be a travel VA but I’m still not 100% certain. I have spent a few years planning and organising my own photography trips but I don’t think it necessarily means thats what I should be doing. I have literally started on the business blueprint today, one thing Erin said was being a generalist in the beginning is a good idea so you get to know what you’re good at and what you enjoy more of. So I thought of maybe a general VA with travel planning as perhaps my strong point. It is frying my brain a little at the moment. I’d love to know anyone’s thoughts or if anyone has any experience with that niche. Have a great day :)

Literally love this idea! Although I have no experience in being a travel Va. I definitely love the thought process! Seems like you’re building nicely off of that. I think things will start to unlock because with the travel portion there are so many things to dive into. Such as Itinerary management, Reservations & experiences, Transportation coordination, Pre travel preparation, Travel admin, etc.

@Ashley Kennedy Nice to meet you as well! I’d say I’m definitely more of a generalist right now and still figuring out where my sweet spot is. So far, I’ve found myself somewhere between consulting, vendor management, and a little bit of everything in between. I’m honestly excited to get to that stage where it just clicks and I know exactly what I want to specialize in. I’m looking forward to being able to focus on the things I genuinely love and do really well. The only problem is, I’m still figuring out what those things are 😂 I just know I don’t love feeling pulled in a million different directions, so I’m ready to find my lane!
When Did You Start Feeling Confident in Your VA Pricing? 💸👀
Serious question, guys! 👀😂 At what point did you start feeling REALLY confident in your pricing as a VA? 💸 Like being able to say your hourly rate or retainer price and actually stand firm on it without immediately second guessing yourself, or having pricing anxiety 😭😂 And roughly how long did it take you to go from where you started to charging what you actually wanted to charge? Especially those of you who eventually moved into more premium pricing👏🏽✨💰 I’m sure some of that confidence probably comes with niching down too 🎯 and really figuring out what you’re good at, who you want to serve, and the value you actually bring to the table 🙌🏽 I’d loveeee to hear what that journey looked like for those who want to share ! 👀💕✨

@Erin BoothThank you so much! So I’m not crazy 😂 I’ve mostly been freelancing with my VA projects right now to build out my skill set and really find my rhythm. But I’ve already had clients ask if I have more hours available, and one even asked me not to take on any more clients 😭 so at this point I’m like… okay, I probably need to start getting my retainer packages together 🤷‍♀️😂. But I have the pit the size of an apple in my stomach right now about it. 🤣
Let's share strategies for working while sick 🤒
I woke up sick today, and in a few minutes, I'm heading into a 5-hour back-to-back client meeting. Normally I'd just move it. I own my VA business, so no client can force me to work through an illness. 👀 But today there's truly no rescheduling it. So I'm doing damage control with tea, water, and snacks staged at my desk, and a tissue box tucked out of camera view. The second that call ends, laptop closed, straight to bed. Your turn! What's your go-to move when you have to show up sick and there's no getting out of it? Drop your tricks below, not only do I need as much help as I can get, but we all get sick at some point! 🚨 Bonus tip: Part of the reason why I encourage people to move away from hourly pricing is because when you're sick, you can't work. No work, no pay! Since I charge flat fees, I technically do get paid the same amount whether I take sick time off or not. Just something to consider as you start pricing your own services.

Discovery Meeting Tips
I am reaching out to people in network and managed to get 2 discovery calls for this week. This feels like interview, what are your lessons/ mistakes/ recommendations that you can share? Any will be helpful.

I literally have to go through this myself as well, because I feel that same way on discovery calls. I also find myself trying to match their speaking pace if they are a faster speaker. 😩

Hey Y'all! I hope everyone is doing great. I've been somewhat MIA as I was busy moving 2 of my daughters into college. Whew that was exhausting and now I'm adjusting to the house being really quiet 🥺. I'm now back to get cranking on completing the Blueprint and learning more for the community and Erin. I finshed my logo and company name. Let me know what y'all think 🤔. I have been applying to FT positions. I'm still awaiting the yay or nay on an interview I had which I should know by next week. If I were to get a FT job during the day what companies or group of individuals should I target? These are the list of services I'd like to provide. I'm sure the list is long and as time goes on this will decrease in some areas and evolve in others. Admin Support - Calendar and scheduling - Inbox management and email organization - Document prep, formatting, and organization Customer & Client Support - Email/ticket management (Zendesk, Freshdesk) - Escalation handling and complaint resolution - Ongoing customer care coordination Hiring & Onboarding Support - Job posting and candidate screening support - Interview scheduling - New hire onboarding and document follow-up - Applicant tracking updates Operations, SOP's & Process Improvement - Auditing and improving disorganized processes - Team training material creation - Onboarding/checklist material creation - SOP and knowledge base documentation I'm open to any feedback, suggestions, tips y'all can provide 😊
