Networking
Hello guys, I’m still trying to get my head around how networking actually works, I don’t have a close warm connection circle right now, I don’t come from an office working background or know a great deal of people connected with what I’m trying to build. How do you guys go about creating warm connections? Do you focus on just one platform? Or do you use several? How do you find people? Who are you looking for? Potential clients, other VA’s? Business owners? And what do you actually say to people when you first connect with them? 😊

@Erin Booth Thank you for the amazing advice again Erin, it all makes much more sense now, start conversations with people and show curiosity instead of immediately trying to sell them something. 🙂
Contract VA Job Listings
Sharing some of my favorite resources to aid your client search! https://hiringcafe.com/?searchState=%7B%22searchQuery%22%3A%22virtual+assistant%22%7D https://www.virtualvocations.com/jobs?search=virtual+assistant https://career.io/jobs?q=virtual+assistant https://powertofly.com/jobs/?keywords=assistant https://nexxorecruiting.com/virtual-assistant-remote/ (this listing is specifically for a VA interested in real estate) A few tips as you dive in: 🚫 Skip listings older than 7 days. By the time you find them, the client has likely already gotten a flood of applications (or filled the role). 🔍 Read the whole listing before you apply: Clients notice when you skip stated requirements (like "must mention your favorite productivity tool" or a specific subject line). It's often a built-in filter to weed out people who don't pay close attention to detail. 📝 Don't let "3 years experience" scare you off: That's often a wish list, not a hard cutoff. If you can speak to the skills they actually need, apply anyway and let your pitch make the case. 🚩 Watch for red flags: Vague scope, "quick 5 hours/week" that's clearly more, or payment structures that feel off. Trust your gut. 📊 Track what you apply to. A simple spreadsheet (listing, date applied, rate, follow-up date) keeps you from losing track and helps you spot patterns in what's landing interviews. 🌱 Job boards shouldn't be your only strategy: Treat these listings as one channel, not the whole plan. Referrals, networking in communities, and reaching out directly to businesses you'd love to work with often land BETTER-fit clients (and skip the competition entirely).

Thank you for this Erin :)
Finding Clients
Hi guys, hope you’ve had a nice beginning to your week. I’ve finally decided to focus on being a travel VA, Initially I was going to be a generalist with travel research being a highlight but now I think it’s best to make travel the main focus with a little general VA work too, after making a sample and itinerary, I actually quite like doing it and feel it’s something I’d be good at. What I’m struggling with now is finding clients, I don’t really know what I’m doing, I don’t have a close network already, I might know some professional photographers over on Instagram but I don’t have an endless list of them. I thought of finding some groups on LinkedIn like travel bloggers, agencies etc, but what kind of methods have people used to find clients or are using now that might turn into a solid system? My mind is a bit boggled at the moment and I don’t really know where to start. 🥺

Hi Erin. Thanks so much, that makes a lot of sense, sorry I’m still getting used to all of this, a few months ago i didn’t even know what networking is. I’m hoping the more I learn, the more things will become clearer. 😊
Travel VA
Hi everyone, following on from my introduction post last week, and speaking with Erin, I am Leaning on deciding to be a travel VA but I’m still not 100% certain. I have spent a few years planning and organising my own photography trips but I don’t think it necessarily means thats what I should be doing. I have literally started on the business blueprint today, one thing Erin said was being a generalist in the beginning is a good idea so you get to know what you’re good at and what you enjoy more of. So I thought of maybe a general VA with travel planning as perhaps my strong point. It is frying my brain a little at the moment. I’d love to know anyone’s thoughts or if anyone has any experience with that niche. Have a great day :)
