A Simple Prompting Tip That Helps Me Create Leverage With AI
Tony closed yesterday, saying AI gives us leverage—and I agree. One easy way to create leverage that I use every day. Tell AI what role to play. Instead of just asking a question, start with: "Act as a [specific expert]..." For example: - "Act as a customer service specialist with 10 years of experience..." - "Act as a social media strategist who understands women entrepreneurs..." But here's how to make it even more powerful (and this is my favorite part): You can create entire TEAMS of specialists. Try this: "Act as a collaborative team of specialists, including a Marketing Strategist, a Copywriter, and a Brand Voice Expert..." Suddenly, you're not just getting one perspective—you're getting a whole team working on your challenge. I think this is an example of the kind of leverage Tony was talking about! Not sure which specialists you need? Ask AI first! Say: "I need to [your task]. What types of specialists would be most helpful for this?" Then use those roles in your next prompt. This one shift—defining roles—has helped me get responses that feel less generic and way more useful. It's like the difference between asking "someone" for help versus asking an expert who truly understands your specific situation. I'm curious: Have others tried using roles in their prompts? What specialists have you "hired" for your AI team? (And if you haven't tried this yet—pick ONE thing you're working on today and experiment! I'd love to hear what happens.)
