Because whew. I’m always amazed by the doors God opens. And no matter how hard I work, I’m never confused about who opens those doors. I just left a private pre-event for woman evolve and had the chance to talk to Serita Jakes at length about motherhood, grace, pressure and authenticity. Last week I had no clue that’s how I’d spend my Wednesday night. Can I share something? 👀 No judgment zone? 👀 A part of me built my own community because I needed the safety of knowing I could never be locked out of a house I built. I’ve overcome all kinds of strange experiences with people and their “stuff.” From being the only Black girl… To being teased for not sounding “Black enough” (even though that’s not a thing). I’ve been in a lot of places, but I rarely “fit.” And people make all kinds of assumptions about me—about why I’m as bold as I am. It gets exhausting. So I created the Speak Your Way To Cash® community for the woman who’s been told she’s “too much.” To remind her that she can be as much as she wants to be. People don’t just judge the quiet women— Society isn’t exactly kind to the woman who dares to speak up. But guess what? The reason we ALL need to run our own race is because we EACH have a distinct group we’re assigned to. And that group? They need our sound. I know there’s a woman reading this who was teased for how she spoke way back when— And somewhere along the way, she stopped talking. Do me a favor? Speak up again. “If God already worked this out, why am I wasting energy pretending I can fix it faster?” Look, this prayer is for the person up worrying… ⬇️⬇️ In the name of Jesus, I pray for the rest of the person reading this. God, I pray that you would give them rest. Not just for their body, but rest for their entire soul. I pray you give them peace—peace that calms their mind and slows their racing thoughts. I pray they get real, deep sleep tonight. REM sleep. The kind of sleep that only happens when you know it’s already in God’s hands. Even the things that feel too heavy to bear—remind them those weights were never theirs to carry in the first place. Remind them of your word which says in Proverbs 3:24 that when you lie down, you will not be afraid, and your sleep will be sweet. Remind them of your word which says in Philippians 4:6–7 to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving make your requests known to God, and the peace of God will guard your heart and mind. God, let your peace fall on them tonight. I pray for the one grieving—hold them in their deep, deep hurt. I pray for the one who feels alone—wrap them in love. Remind them that you’re not a God who lies, teases, or torments. You protect. You provide. You prepare. I pray for discernment in their relationships—who to date, who to marry, who to release. Remind them of your word which says in James 1:5 that if we lack wisdom, we can ask and you give it freely. I pray for the mother up worrying about her child—cover that baby and give her peace. God, thank you for being consistent, even when we are not. Give us hearts ready to repent. Help us sit with you long enough to notice what needs to shift. And give us courage to act on what you show us. Remind us of your word which says in 2 Timothy 1:7 that you didn’t give us fear—you gave us power, love, and a sound mind. And if someone reading this doesn’t know you yet, Jesus, but wants to… Remind them of your word which says in Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
